That’s a much slower start than I expected for Meg X Dua. They have really decent play listing and I thought curiosity day 1 streams alone would’ve helped it debut top 10 at least today. Obviously it might climb or hold up well but I don’t really think it will if NMF didn’t even help that much.

Kiss Me More, which is pretty similar in sound I suppose, debuted top 10 and that was with a feature not as big as Dua

Edit: although it managed to debut at #2 on US Spotify which is much more impressive.

The Megan song is doing better off the bat than any of her previous singles, that's how we should be measuring it. Dua's name being attached isn't a guaranteed top 10 (see Cold Heart, that debuted low top 40 remember), but it's making the song perform better than any of Megan's last few releases have.
Cold Heart was a mash-up single that become hit very unexpectedly. I don't think it's comparable here. Sweetest Pie has all the support industry can give at once (although physical singles are only from Megan's US store it seems)
The only time Megan has had a hit single as a lead is with Beyonce attached to - it's performing better in US as she's bigger there. Her last couple of singles havent even gone Top 40!

Not surprised at all by the Megan/ Dua flop. The video is just wtf and the song isn't great. Dua doing her friend a favour by featuring on it tbh.

What is the difference between Sam Fender and Sam Ryder??

Ashanti BACK in the charts :cheeseblock: Sabrina the Trenage Witch predicted that she'd be bigger than Britney, which never happened, as Britney's sangs are much better. But maybe now Sabrina's presiction will come true for 2021?!

Florence to get a hit?? Omg, a lot of people must be skipping Adele'd OMG if it is track one on the playlist but flopping in the charts!!!

Pretty good figures for Aitch/Ashanti, 480K

Shocked at how badly the Dua/Megan duet is doing, I was convinced it had a chance of debuting at #1

at least it's done great in the US, in at #2 with nearly 1 million

nice to see Florence in, wish it was higher though...

Wonder how much the album version of Florence did, I'm sure it's higher combined.

True, there are 2 versions!

Exactly. I said this from the start people on here are so oblivious. It was never going to be huge off the bat.

I don’t really think it’s fair to compare any random Megan single with this one, I doubt she’s ever had anywhere close to the level of day 1 play list support that this has had, or as big a feature minus Beyoncé (UK wise anyway), so of course expectations are going to be much higher
you can’t compare sweetest pie to cold heart especially when sweetest pie has had a huge streaming push

One is an established singer-songwriter with two massive albums under his belt, the other is our Eurovision entrant this year and a newcomer (although he's had a sizeable following online for quite some time)

Hope Dave gets a second week at no.1 officially.

Hence why it's doing better than Cold Heart did off the bat, that got to #55.

Lots of people saying it's not comparable to other Megan singles / Dua collabs but I think it is to some extent. Megan clearly doesn't have a particularly big level of name power on her own as evidenced by songs like Body and Thot Shit not being huge hits. Savage was a TikTok hit which was then remixed by Beyoncé of course, and nothing she's put out since then (as a lead) has come anywhere near to that. The added name power of Dua means Sweetest Pie is naturally doing much better than you'd expect a new Megan single to be doing.

There aren't really any other songs quite like Cold Heart, but I don't think it's unreasonable to compare its first day with other Dua collaborations. I expect it wouldn't have debuted anywhere near as high as #55 without Dua's name power boosting it up, but equally, Dua alone isn't enough to guarantee a top 10. Looking at her own singles as a lead, We're Good and the Levitating remix didn't debut top 10 either, nor did Physical even.

The point is that I think any predictions of #1 or anywhere near were always going to be overestimated when Megan has absolutely no form of debuting that high and even Dua isn't a guarantee of immediate mega success. That doesn't mean Sweetest Pie can't go on to be a bigger hit and grow in popularity, and I fully expect it will.

(the Kiss Me More comparison doesn't feel the same, it was Doja's first brand new single since blowing up with the viral Say So, Boss Bitch and Streets, there was obvious anticipation and hype for it)

you also have to factor the crazy playlist support it's had, added as track #10 to HH, barely anyone gets that

if something, Spotify is treating it like if it were the return of Dua Lipa with album 3

so such a low debut with barely 150K streams is underwhelming no matter how you look at it

A couple weeks ago when it was first announced I was thinking it was sure gonna debut at #1

but back then Dua was thought to be the lead

my expectations didn't change that much when it was revealed it was a co-single

it's Megan & Dua, it's not like Dua is a feature singing one verse, rather the opposite, she kinda leads the song

with Dave and Aitch doing so well I thought it could be #3 this week based on the heavy playlist support from Spotify

but alas that's not gonna happen... maybe it is Rumours part 2 after all

Stream it now. It's a bop. I love Dua's hook and the summery production, and Meg spat those verses! Queens

lol You would consider any Dua's fart as a masterpiece. :D

I'm not surprised it's not doing well on Spotify, I'm not impressed at all on first listen.

Dua's name power dragging Megan up to a low top 40 debut honestly seems about right, I feel like people here don't realise just how little people in the UK care about Megan (unfortunately). The much better debut in the US is just showing again that this is being received much more like a Megan single than a Dua one despite being technically a joint lead.

And I mean this is a higher debut than 'Bam Bam' had last week so that speaks pretty highly of Dua's name power really, especially as Camila is significantly more popular than Megan in the UK as well.

Good to see some pretty healthy numbers from Aitch as well as Dave continuing to hold up really well, the top end of the Spotify chart slowly starting to look a little less dead again.

Also and I know that Doja Cat had a great year last year, I don't feel that female RnB is really the sound at the moment. More about the throaty (for what of a better word) female singers like Gayle, Mimi etc and UK (male) rap is having success on an unprecedented level.

Except Sweetest Pie is anything but an fart :) An bop and people are clearly jealous.
