* #1 wasn't Don Broco's first week in the chart, but it was its first week being physically available.

Yes it's absolutely true that many albums experience significant second week falls. Generally it's happening to artists who rely strongly on physical sales and don't have much of a streaming presence. It's maybe a concern that Mabel has veered towards being that kind of artist already. This is only her second album, so not ideally where she'd be at at this early stage of her career. Particularly considering this is coming off the back of a debut album that did achieve longevity thanks to streaming (even prior to her label taking the mickey by continually adding new singles to it to further extend that album's chart life).

Wednesday midweeks will give us a better indication on where 'About Last Night' could chart on Friday. I can't really detect an artist in the above lists who is at a similar level to Mabel. Obviously Avril Lavigne has been around for 20 years, but her album was midweek #31 on Monday in its second week before ending up at #45. Sigrid was midweek #49 and ended up at #74.

when you think about it, it's pretty unusual for an artist to have album 1 charting cos of streams mainly

and then album 2 mainly cos of physicals

I can't really detect an artist in the above lists who is at a similar level to Mabel.

Sigrid is probably the closest I can think of, even though I know she was nowhere near as big as Mabel during era 1.

Sigrid actually had great physical sales from both album 1 & 2 on week 1 and didn't rely on streams
Lies! No way would they scrap an album that they had pressed vinyls for, sold ticket/cd bundles, pressed picture discs and had booked all the TV appearances and Banquet signings etc...

I don't think that was the case with this album - it looks like it was almost scrapped just before announcement instead of just before release.

Pressed albums do get cancelled sometimes - Amelia Lily for example!
