Apologies for any delays had a few personal issues to sort at home (and will do for a while but I will still do my best)

Anyways, that aside. I’m about to post my number 25. Up first may be a controversial choice as I’m assuming a lot of people would have it higher, it’s a single…

any guesses before I post ?

Ok well there’s no guesses so i’ll just go ahead and post it eh

25. Tragedy

Yes falling at the first hurdle in spot #25 is (correct me if i’m wrong) their biggest ever selling single cover of Bee Gees classic - Tragedy. Disclaimer back in the 90s I actively hated Steps and for some reason did everything I could to avoid listening to them. I used to say they were too cheesy for me, but really I think I was bitter that the likes of Steps and others were getting bigger as the Spice Girls seemed to be disappearing. Anyways back to the point, this song I actually bought on single although unlike many the main reason was the double AA Heartbeat (which may or may not be yet to come) however in later years I have also grew to love this for what it is, a great and solid cover that does stand the test of time with the rest of their discography. Do I still think it’s overrated, yes, but it is still a great and classic bop and the top 25 wouldn’t be right without it !

A great start! And if it’s any consolation, I wouldn’t have guessed it would be first out!

A surprise to start off with, so you initially preferred heart to tragedy, thats a surprise, heartbeat was never a song i got into myself.

would you have expected it higher or not to feature at all ?

I did (and maybe still do) but I won’t fully give anything away just yet.

I am a sucker for a ballad so that may give hints so some songs yet to come …

I'm the opposite when it comes to steps I dont enjoy their ballads at all even though I do like ballads from other artists.

I think Steps are great at doing both tbf which is great. Some artists I gravitate either towards their ballads or face paced but Steps definitely have their fair share of greats for both, imo anyway.

Oh god I forgot you love a ballad.

Bad taste incoming ;)

can’t be any worse than the taste of the last countdown, whose was that again?

Might as well post my next one in my countdown..

24. Paradise Lost

In at number 24 is the first of 8 album tracks to make my Top 25, however this is my only pre comeback non single song. Prior to their comeback I hadn’t actually listened to their album tracks just their singles. However this song is so instant, an absolute banger and was a great addition on tour although i’d still love to hear it live in full. Definitely one I need to listen to more often !

it’s a fantastic song ! Think If I did this countdown again in a few years time it may even end up higher

What a great start to the countdown, though Tragedy out early is a bit of a surprise.

Great to see the Paradise Lost love continue.

23. Neon Blue

Up next is the first of the newer Steps songs to appear in my countdown and another single. This entire album I love and there will be more to come from it. This song is catchy, upbeat and positive. There is other songs however i’d have maybe preferred as single choices from this era but again as the album was so good there was so much choice!

Tragedy! Their signature hit besides their debut. Glad it was a massive hit and catapulted them into official popstars :cheer: Loved it when it got released, got a bit tired of it a few years ago and now I’m back to loving it

Yeah for PL! The single that got away :o Such a shame!

Love the fact that the comeback material was strong and NB is proof of that for me. Such an uplifting song  And a testament of how they’ve worked through their issues as they seem to have genuine fun in the video!

Looking forward to the rest :)
