April 30, 20224 yr I can only conclude it’s because they are t with a big record label. They are on the same label as Idles, anyone know if they have been A Listed before?

April 30, 20224 yr As much as I like them, I wouldn’t really say that IDLES’ fanbase fits Radio 1’s demographic either really, they’re far more suited for 6music. They’re also all pushing 40, which shouldn’t be a problem, but I’m not surprised that Radio 1 doesn’t give them loads of support.

I guess them and Fontaines DC for me are really big bands at the moment and there’s a lot of hype around them and they are huge in the live circuit which is something R1 consider when playlisting. I mean they are never going to do well in the singles chart but R1 normally proudly supports indie/bands like that as well as the more commercial artists. That’s what’s makes them unique!
