My ReviewNow That’s What I Call Music! 105 aka Now 105 was released at the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the release of the compilation was postponed by some weeks and became the first volume in the series ever to be released in the month of May. This volume had 46 tracks from late 2019 and early 2020, including 4 UK #1 singles. It also signalled the discontinuation of the "throwback" songs to conclude the end of Disc 2 that had been used in the previous 3 volumes. It also featured a couple of artists for the first time in the series including Doja Cat and Tom Grennan.

The highlights from the omissions from this volume was another overlooked Christmas #1 from LadBaby and a #1 from Drake. Other artists not given disc space included Roddy Ricch, Pussycat Dolls, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Trevor Daniel, Niall Horan, Ashe, Eminem and others.

It is the only time in the series so far that we have had music from SAINt JHN, Arizona Zervas, BENEE, Endor, Sam Fischer and Matt Lucas.

Artwork Rating: 4/10 Very Poor

Probably one of the least attractive covers of recent times, mainly just due to a lack of creativity. The plain white backdrop with floating bubbles of lava seemed like a familiar sight that we have seen in other album covers over the years and lacked any real personality and ingenuity.

Disc 1 Favourite: The Weeknd – Blinding Lights

It absolutely dominated the UK charts for an entire year or more, but this #1 from The Weeknd, which would become his biggest hit to date, was such a great synth inspired song which quickly went on to overshadow Heartless and become the biggest hit of 2020.

Disc 2 Favourite: Dua Lipa – Physical

What a brilliant era this was for Dua Lipa, and hit after hit was an absolute bop, and Physical was no different. The first Top 10 single titled "Physical" since Olivia Newton-John in 1981! It was great to see this as well as her earlier hit included in this volume.

Disc 3 Tracklist:

(A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used)

1. Ladbaby – I Love Sausage Rolls 3:24 {1}

2. Ellie Goulding – River 4:06 {1}

3. Roddy Ricch – The Box 3:17 {2}

4. Future feat. Drake – Life Is Good 3:58 {3}

5. Stormzy feat. Headie One – Audacity 4:06 {6}

6. J Hus – Must Be 3:28 {5}

7. KSI feat. Rick Ross, Lil Baby & S-X – Down Like That 2:55 {10}

8. Drake – Toosie Slide 4:07 {1}

9. The Weeknd – Heartless 3:18 {10}

10. Pussycat Dolls – React 3:24 {29}

11. Doja Cat – Boss Bitch 2:14 {24}

12. Camila Cabello feat. DaBaby – My Oh My 2:51 {13}

13. 24kGoldn – City Of Angels 1:52 {25}

14. Harry Styles – Falling 4:00 {15}

15. Ashe – Moral Of The Story 3:21 {31}

16. Halsey – You Should Be Sad 3:25 {12}

17. Surfaces – Sunday Best 2:39 {36}

18. twenty one pilots – Level Of Concern 3:40 {42}

19. Niall Horan – No Judgement 2:56 {32}

20. Bastille – Can't Fight This Feeling 3:19 {39}

21. Brockhampton feat. Dua Lipa – Sugar [Remix] 3:42 {58}

22. SZA & Justin Timberlake – The Other Side 3:08 {44}

23. Kygo, Zara Larsson & Tyga – Like It Is 3:03 {49}

24. Martin Solveig & Roy Woods – Juliet & Romeo 3:25 {51}

----------

Total time: 1:19:38

Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good

This was quite a strong time for chart hits, and it's great to see so many big songs by big artists making this tracklist. The exclusion of the "throwback" songs at the end of Disc 2 is a big improvement for me, and makes the overall compilation much stronger as a whole. Despite 7 songs that did not chart being added, it doesn't take away from the quality of the music contained within the two discs. Not overly critical about the omissions this time either.
