Starstruck wasn't released as a single (the dumbest move of her career).
 Yeah, MTN is one of the highlights of her entire career. Would love it on the setlist.
For what reasons?

For what reasons?

It's in her top 2 best singles ever:

- The glittery, mesmerising production that starts it off:

- It contains some of the most relatable lyrics ever: I'm a soldier to my own emptiness

- It contains her story, her painful truth with such reality: I won't give up on my life

- The B R I D G E

- The music video is autobiographical and one of the most cinematic moments of her career

- The sheer FIRE throughout it (including in the video)

MjUi.gif

- The production shift as the song progresses, constantly keeping you on your toes

- It had some of her best live performances ever: The EMAs!

- It kick starts her most beloved album for fans - it introduced the theme of it perfectly and lets us know the journey we're going on

- It is so empowering and would explode in a stadium - fans would relate to it whole heartedly

- It'd be such an inspired choice of song to go alongside 20 other songs that are v well known - not everything has to be a top 3 hit for it to be on the setlist, sometimes songs like this get new life

- Did I mention it's her best ever single, or at least top 2!!!

Reasons against:

- It didn't sell as much as her other singles lol

There's nothing much more I can add!!

But yeah, it's sonically one of the best songs she's ever created which automatically makes it one of the highlights of her career.

This is just your personal experience based on how the song hit you at the time but I prefer to stick to facts and data and they say no one was here for this song which is why the album promotion cycle ended early and no other singles were released after it and it annoys me to know that this bad song that goes nowhere stole the spot from Hair and/or Fashion of His Love as the album's singles, songs with much bigger commercial appeal.

They said that yesterday too :kink: The show doesn't need extra! Maybe just ensure she's out at 8.30 on the dot and manages to perform TEOG because that was left out of yesterday's show due to the curfew.

My thoughts:

Intro

- The opening interlude videos were great. The black and white spirals, the search for this mystery planet and then the outline of Gaga - she loves a silhouette to start her tours!

- A strange opening 3 tracks. Who else could get away with opening with 3 of the biggest songs of all time and still have so much to give after!?

- I get why it was done with the lack of movement to support her condition but I wish there was a bit more movement for them. Still her being trapped in this vessel, a fame prison, was a good concept. And I loved how she slowly broke out of the shell like she was being born on this new planet. The three songs sounded INSANE live, Bad Romance in particular was a surprisingly good introduction because those iconic Monster chants really got the stadium going!

ACT I

- We all wanted Alice as the introduction but actually it worked introducing Act I instead because as said, in the stadium the three singles got EVERYONE including local casual fans pumped. It wasn't my favourite moment, again her restricted movement didn't help but it really showed off how painful the lyrics are.

- The theme of pain and trauma continued - Replay was an awesome song to follow Alice. One of the big highlights, when the chorus hit and she shrieked each time and the stadium EXPLODED - incredible.

- Monster fit brilliantly here because the songs in this act were all about torture and pain especially at the hands of the fame that she sang about in the 3 opening singles.

ACT II

- Chromatica II into 911 didn't really work for me. It seemed a bit messy and I couldn't work out what the big shift was. But 911 was great fun and I loved the staging for it.

- Sour Candy was fun and she actually made it her own without the need of Blackpink.

- Telephone isn't my favourite single by any means (it is one of my partner's) so with him I LOVED it! It made sense coming in this section too, her more zany singles and obviously a thematic link of phoning and 911!

- LoveGame was sexy af. Another great inclusion in this fun, zany section.

ACT III

- What a sensational section!!! Babylon was incredible live, it really cane alive. Total serve of vocals and choreography. A true moment.

- My favourite album track did not disappoint. Free Woman was beautiful live. Her walking through the crowd, one of us, free and happy. The song is stunning and I'm so glad it was elevated further through this performance. Seeing audience members bowing down to her, crying and screaming love at her - stunning.

- Born This Way was yet another highlight! The piano section was beautiful and then the album version was great. Nice to see the old choreography back and the paws up at the end - crying uncontrollably.

ACT IV

- Gaga always shines on the piano but this was something else. Hearing Shallow and ARUTW live with the entire stadium singing along is a moment I will never ever forget. The soundtrack means so much to me and my partner and so all it took was the opening chords of Shallow to start for me to fully burst down into tears. She sounded INSANE live not that there was ever any doubt of this!

- 1000 Doves had its moment! The piano version is great and needs to be added to Spotify! I am glad it got its moment because I wasn't sure it would be included. Underrated af!

- Now I did NOT expect Fun Tonight to be a tour highlight. But the piano slowed down first verse.. followed by HER JUMP FROM THE PIANO.. to the sped up second verse had the entire stadium erupt. What a MOMENT OF THE TOUR it has given new energy to the song.

- She sounded great of Enigma too and her theatrics with the microphone stand remain legendary :')

FINALE

- Stupid Love was electric in the stadium! Loved the choreography from the video, the inclusion of the tribe symbols and it felt like what I thought the entire tour would be like going off the music video!

- When was lay down after Stupid Love in that pose, I turned to my partner and squealed RAIN ON ME COMING. I have goosebumps writing this now because the song was just stupendous live. It is the defining song of the era and the entire stadium danced along to it. All it needed was actual rain to fall to make it even more life changing!

ENCORE

- Who'd have thought Hold My Hand would work this well as an encore. It seemed to be a love letter to the audience telling then that we are united with Gaga and always together. It was super emotional and her powerhouse vocals elevated the song to new levels. I know it's not everyone's favourite choice of encore but I think it worked really well. Also her claw was so powerful and it added new meaning to paws up! I had mine up the entire way like it was 2010 all over again.

It was incredible  I want to do it all again!

Tl;dr:

Highlights: Replay, Telephone, Babylon, Free Woman, Born This Way, Shallow, Always Remember Us This Way, 1000 Doves, Fun Tonight, Rain On Me, Hold My Hand

Not as high-lights: Alice, Chromatica II - 911, I think something was supposed to be revealed at the end of Monster but I couldn't really make out what it was

The staging worked - it was actually one of the least "theatrical" Gaga tours I've been to and so it focused solely on the music, the vocals, the lyrics and her legendary performance power.
