Posted July 14, 20223 yr Public Service Broadcasting have been commissioned by the BBC to compose a work to mark their centenary year. It will be performed at a Prom concert at the Albert Hall on 30 August, Naturally, I will be there. It will be broadcast live on the night on Radio 3 and will then be shown on BBC4 on 2 September. I'm sure it will be brilliant. I don't yet know whether the work will be released.
August 1, 20222 yr Author The latest new on a release (or otherwise) is that it depends on whether it is deemed to be any good. If they think it will be profitable, it will be released.
August 1, 20222 yr Author Obviously, the idea that anything by Public Service Broadcasting will be anything other than fantastic is unthinkable.
August 2, 20222 yr at the very least they should give a free copy to fans who pay to go and see them, if they dont do an official release :cheer: :) One day I will catch them!
August 3, 20222 yr Author at the very least they should give a free copy to fans who pay to go and see them, if they dont do an official release :cheer: :) One day I will catch them! They are at the O2 in Boscombe in October.
August 31, 20222 yr Author Last night was quite emotional. I've been following the band since The War Room EP ten years ago, back in the days when our own Brett-Butler was championing them on his Queens Radio show. When I first saw them live, the only people on stage were J Wilgoose Esq and Wrigglesworth. The rest of the music was on a laptop. With that modest beginning, it was quite incredible seeing them as a four-piece band accompanied by a full orchestra in one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. Of all the people the BBC could have commissioned to write a piece to celebrate their centenary, they chose this little band from South London
June 30, 20232 yr Public Service Broadcasting announce This New Noise, the newly remixed and remastered live recording of their acclaimed 2022 BBC Proms show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, released on 8 September 2023 via Test Card Recordings. A celebration of the power of radio written in recognition of the centenary of the BBC, This New Noise saw the band joining forces with the 88 piece BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley. A standout performance from 2022’s BBC Proms, it received 5*s in The Telegraph who called it “a resonant, timely and ultimately touching show”. Founder member J. Willgoose, Esq. remixed the concert from scratch, bringing out even more depth and texture from a multi-layered performance and showing it in a new light. 1 Ripples in the Ether (Towards the Infinite) 2 This New Noise 3 An Unusual Man 4 A Cello Sings in Daventry (Feat. Seth Lakeman) 5 Broadcasting House 6 The Microphone (The Fleet Is Lit Up) 7 A Candle Which Will Not Be Put Out 8 What of the Future? (In Touch With the Infinite)
September 9, 20231 yr Author Got my signed copy this morning. They did a meet and greet in Resident Records in Brighton yesterday but, now that the schools are back, I couldn't go :(
September 9, 20231 yr Heard the recording of This New Noise on 6Music earlier in the week, such an epic  I really love their style and what I know of them, need to get familiar with more of their material.
September 9, 20231 yr Author Heard the recording of This New Noise on 6Music earlier in the week, such an epic  I really love their style and what I know of them, need to get familiar with more of their material. You definitely need to listen to their earlier albums, just to find out why I keep going on about how good they are!
September 9, 20231 yr Have always loved them, I enjoyed watching the Prom on TV last year so will look forward to hearing this again. I sent Spitfire to BJSC in 2014! But could just have easily sent Night Mail or something else, I love their style. Edited September 9, 20231 yr by gooddelta
