July 25, 20223 yr This is a mess. What is that production? Who listened to that and thought it sounded good
July 25, 20223 yr Remember ehen Holly Valance laughed at Kylie, saying she wouldn't be caught in her 30s dancing around in hotpants and being a pop singer? Welk, she got thst right
July 27, 20223 yr Seems like London is putting in slight effort in promoting this on the 20th anniversary: I wonder if they'll eventually go to the effort of vinyl pressings of her two albums? Plastic Pop mentioned the possibility of this on Popjustice the other day, and asked for feedback. He seemed to insinuate that he had the licence to do it, but wasn't sure how people felt about the idea in light of Holly's recent controversies*. The feedback was actually a mix of people who were interested, and those who were very against it - and he listened to the latter (and then made out as if he was against it all along, even though he initially hadn't shared his own view... why would he have even asked in the first place?). * Posing with Nigel Farage and Donald Trump (specifically Nick Candy met with them, and she's his wife) and her Twitter has likes that suggests she's anti Trans and generally has right wing views. I'm definitely no fan of who she shows herself to be these days, I want to make that clear. Honestly though, I am of the mindset that I can separate art from the person who made it (within reason). I don't particularly care what Holly Valance's views are, I think she's very inconsequential. I was a big fan of her music from 20 years ago, and that feels far removed from supporting her today. I would have got the vinyl albums had they happened. This is also with the knowledge that Holly is so rich now, that she likely wouldn't even notice the very small amount of money that vinyl releases would generate anyway.
July 27, 20223 yr Author  If people had actually read her interviews from back in the day it's pretty obvious that she was never an overly likeable person, which is probably why her pop career ended up in the dumper in the first place. I very much doubt she benefits from a few hundred copies sold of a vinyl album though.

I just liked the music!
July 27, 20223 yr Author Even back then I wasn't invested in her as a personality, I didn't feel like I was a fan of her specifically. I just liked the music! Putting aside the Kylie comments (there's a lot of 20-something pop stars who'll claim they'll absolutely not be doing the pop thing at 30, like it's retirement age), she always struck me as someone who saw herself "above this" and mainly got into the business to snag a rich husband - and hey, she achieved her goal! I think it's a bit silly that the Plastic Pop guy just can't admit that he likes the albums and thought about printing them if there was enough interest - as you say, it's not like she'd notice anything on her bank account either way. Obviously, he wouldn't have looked up licensing them in the first place if he didn't want to do it himself. Edited July 27, 20223 yr by tommie
August 3, 20223 yr As a personality Holly didn't build public engagement which partly was the reason her music career faded so quickly.
