Posted August 2, 20222 yr The BBC has announced that the next series of Mock The Week (broadcast in the autumn) will be the last. It's managed to be consistently funny for all that time so I will be sorry to see it go. It has been one of the rare shows which regularly provides a platform for young comics to appear on television, often for the first time. Russell Howard, John Bishop and Ed Gamble are among those who have appeared on the show early in their career. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-62392774
August 2, 20222 yr Me, too, it's always entertaining. I suspect the prospect of Liz Truss as PM was just too much for the Beeb to contemplate given C4's "privatisation" by the Government. It's not as if it was exactly expensive to produce nor did it have low ratings. All those Truss punchlines we'll never hear now.....
August 2, 20222 yr oh that is a shame as its the best of the comedy panel shows. “the uk had finally run out of news” is the most bullshit excuse too, it clearly got cancelled for being too anti tory.
August 2, 20222 yr I usually watched it as it was an easy watch and you always find some good comedians on it. It's certainly helped launch some careers, would be a big shame for that opportunity to go completely.
August 3, 20222 yr As richard osman suggested...there's always Dave if the bbc font want to produce new ones...
August 4, 20222 yr Andrew Neil getting the boot in on Mock The Week viewing figures having dropped from 2 million back in the day to one and a half million in the age of streaming as if that was worthy of a reason for cancellation  The old hack failed ex-presenter would dream of viewing figures like that and is using woke cancellation as a reason (which Mock The Week never engaged in) as he celebrates the cancellation of something he doesn't agree with. Oh the self-unaware irony....
October 21, 20222 yr Author Tonight's final episode (assuming Dave doesn't take it on) was brilliant but also a sad moment.
October 22, 20222 yr I really got into this over lockdown (having only previously seen the occasional episode when my parents used to watch), it was a typically great final series and it will definitely be missed. The last episode felt strangely poignant but not without the laughs you expect. Hopefully Dave will pick it up!
November 12, 20222 yr So gutted that this show has finished, it was always my favourite comedy panel show! Totally agree that the last series was still really good quality too.
