Posted December 20, 200618 yr Something fun for us all to watch on Christmas Day at 8pm on C4.... It sounds well interesting, Dan Brown's book is just misdirection, apparently, this is the REAL biblical scandal, the embarrassment to the Christian faith that they have suppressed for hundreds of years..... Watch... :)
December 20, 200618 yr I´m curious but I can´t watch it... Could you tell us what it´s about? Being BBC I suppose it´s something like an homossexual Jesus, or Virgin Mary was a prostitute, or Mary Magdalene was a lesbo. I´d like to see a documentary on Mohammed too.
December 20, 200618 yr there was a very interesting documentary on christianity once, showing how it very nearly failed to take off, but only did so because some ruler utilised it to subgegate his citizens...

It's Channel 4 doing it, not BBC, and I'm not really all that sure, the trailers arent all that specific.. But I am gonna watch it, anything that upsets the status quo of the established church is all good by me.... :)
December 27, 200618 yr nope.... too much else going on, crimbo day is for chilling out after eating/drinking and putting on this intellectual stuff on crimbo night was imho a mistake.

December 27, 200618 yr That's why they invented Video/DVD recorders mate.... :P Recorded it, but not watched yet.... i seldom use mine as programmes are repeted on one channel or another so often that im not fussed enough to tape much at all, i used to have hours of progs to watch but it was just too much. i just cant be a slave to the box anymore
December 27, 200618 yr It's channel 4, they'll repeat it sooner or later anyway... What I find interesting is that nobody would comission a programme in this day and age revealing scandal or discrepancies in the quran, for example.

December 27, 200618 yr I missed it, but is the bloke who did it Robert Beckford? I remember a programme he did in Christmas 2004 called 'Who Wrote The Bible?'. That was very good.

I thought you hated Xmas Day and couldn't be bothered with all the fuss? Back on topic, I didn't see this but I hope someone gives a lowdown on what it was about as it sounds intriguing. :funky:
December 28, 200618 yr Anyone watched? Yes, in parts at least :cheer: I missed it, but is the bloke who did it Robert Beckford? I remember a programme he did in Christmas 2004 called 'Who Wrote The Bible?'. That was very good. I think so, don't know who it was, but have seen him before. He's a black guy and seems very switched on. He's quite an investigator. Near the end there was some christian guy on, trying to uphold the traditianal story. His defence amounted to saying people have active imaginations. What a laugh, that amounted to defeat, to saying the church couldn't look at the facts. Was an interesting programme.

That's the problem with the established church, anything that doesn't fit into their incredibly narrow interpretation of things is either heresy or blasphemy.... It's an absolute NONSENSE to assume that Jesus was somehow an 'only child' (well, assuming of course there was a Jesus anyway, but for the sake of argument..) No way, not in those times.... And there would be Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents as well to take into consideration.... The Church dogmatically and bloody-mindedly just refuses to face the facts, and paints Jesus and Mary as being isolated figures.... Rubbish....
December 28, 200618 yr Yea, it's Dr. Robert Beckford http://www.caribvoice.org/Story%20Images/beckford.gif
December 28, 200618 yr theres still no hard evidence that jesus ever existed! 'he' could have been one of several nebulous characters of the time.
December 28, 200618 yr Author theres still no hard evidence that jesus ever existed! 'he' could have been one of several nebulous characters of the time. That's more than likely the actual truth of the matter... Anti-Roman agitator, religious leader, rebel leader...... I can buy.. Son of God, Virgin birth... Come on.....
December 28, 200618 yr Well, but what was the program about? As far as I know, it´s "only" Catholics and Orthodox people (1 in every 5 persons in the world) who tecnically believe that Jesus had not brothers or sisters. Protestants don´t have a problem with that.
