Alice sjouñd have been a single!!! Third single, not 911, or first singñe!

 

Breaks my heart to this day, although above all the fact the era just stopped as soon as the album was released was so unjust with all the potential it had.

 

Mind you, I'm ultimately glad 'Sour Candy' didn't end up being released so swings & roundabouts.

Sour Candy was atrocious, but it would have been a hit in Asia!

 

Alice could EASILY have been first single, or the follow-up to RoM! It sounded HUGE.

Sour Candy could've been a big hit imo. It's farrrrr from my favourite but given the fanbase/production, I think it was screaming to be a hit single!

What are your thoughts on the song and music video now? How did you feel about it at the tme of its premiere?

It was a triumph from the start! Remember anxiously waiting for the video premiere live on youtube.

I still absolutely ADORE the song. It ranks so highly for me in her overall back catalogue. A totally euphoric number with a beautiful video, great live performance at the VMAs. Pure love, always :wub:

This single could have been milked much more but the song itself and its video are very good, one of the defining moments of the pandemic.

ROM is such a brilliant pop song. There's so much to it. I think my fave part might be the bridge after Ariana's verse where it's like call and response. It's actually pop perfection.

That Zane Lowe interview is my favourite of the era- Remembered it being after the album release though!

The interview is great. Zane Lowe has such a passion for music and obviously Gaga does too so their discussion is rich, detailed and informative. They are so intellectual and thoughtful when discussing the choices and stories behind the music. I hope he continues to interview her in subsequent eras too :wub:
