Posted December 21, 200618 yr From a biased perspective for me its gotta be Liverpool's FA Cup win. :D Aside from that it hasn't really been a great year for Britan in general in sporting events but we did play a part in the Ryder Cup win. ^_^ I think this year though will be remembered for the World Cup more than anything else though. I guess the World Cup in general will be remembered for that famous Zidane headbutt but from England's point of view it will probably be remembered for England's failure in the World Cup and the whole Rooney and Ronaldo fiasco.
December 21, 200618 yr It has been a dreadful year for British Sport. The best sporting moment had to be Joe Calzaghe fight with Jeff Lacey to become WBO and IBF Super Middleweight Champion. On a personal note, Liverpool winning the FA Cup was a highpoint
December 22, 200618 yr It has been a FLOP :manson: year for British sport My personal highlight was Portugal knocking England out of the World Cup so that these tabloid sports writers get a dose of reality that England are not the best team in the world
December 22, 200618 yr Depends on how you look at it though really... I for one find it utterly hilarious that England's cricket team were totally humiliated by the Aussies.... And all the World Cup hype as well..... Sorry, but you guys just set yourselves up for a fall...
December 22, 200618 yr That's true, GRIM.. but it's the same every year :( I have to agree with the comments that there really weren't any real stand-out sporting moments this year... we got beaten at the World Cup in footy, our Rugby team has fallen to pieces, we were thrashed in the ashes... strange that in our three main sports we never seem to be able to get any success
December 22, 200618 yr England making an embarassment of itself on the world stage England taking Theo Walcott to the World Cup and not having the balls to play him England forgetting how to play Rugby and losing to nobodys like Argentina England forgetting what cricket is, forfeiting the Ashes as quickly as they possibly could

Im sure if we won a few matches people would be we were the best team in world again  For me are most successful sport at the moment is Boxing. We have two of the best middleweights EVER in Joe Calzaghie and Ricky Hatton IMO
