I'd probably think of 'A Second to Midnight' in that aspect before 'Into the Blue'. Although maybe it could be symbolic of "new year's resolutions" or something?

Neither would be an anthem for me but out of the 2 I much much orefer into the blue.

Into the blue has a good upbeat feel so it could be a new years anthem I guess.
