December 25, 20222 yr Streaming has largely killed the album market. This year’s album sales are particularly poor following a lacklustre Q4 release schedule but last year the Q4 album market had some bigger releases from the likes of Adele, Ed Sheerann and ABBA but sales are unlikely to reach the levels they once were about 6-7 years ago in Q4.
December 25, 20222 yr You cannot expect acts like Adele and Abba release every year. Taylor Swift and Arctic Monkeys are big in their own right.
December 25, 20222 yr You cannot expect acts like Adele and Abba release every year. Taylor Swift and Arctic Monkeys are big in their own right. I don’t think anybody is expecting those acts to release every year but the point I was making is that this year there has been less competition than usual due to a lacklustre release schedule.
December 26, 20222 yr You cannot expect acts like Adele and Abba release every year. Taylor Swift and Arctic Monkeys are big in their own right. Nobody said they were not big in their own right, in fact nobody says any of the acts mentioned are not big acts. The whole thread is about the collapse of physical album sales which were huge in this season. Were album sales still so huge then it is likely that big acts of today would be achieving those massive sales these last few weeks.
