Here's another album thread for something that I'm not sure was on anyone else's radar but it's my favourite album of the ones I've listened to that came out in January (dropped on the 27th, I didn't have room to fit that in the subtitle).

Complete Mountain Almanac is a supergroup of Aaron and Bryce Dessner from The National plus their sister, the poet Jessica Dessner, and Norwegian/Swedish singer Rebekka Karijord who some might remember from a couple of Caerfyrddia BJSC entries back in the day. They've recorded an album with 12 tracks, each named after a different month of the year. 'May' and 'February' were released as singles and they're both very pretty (as is pretty much the entire album, there's a lot of lovely folksy instrumentation along the lines of Taylor Swift's 'willow' which of course Aaron Dessner also produced).

It's kind of difficult to pick out favourite tracks as a lot of it is quite similar (and the indistinct song title scheme doesn't help with remembering specific details of each track :kink:) so maybe it's best just enjoyed as a full album but aside from the singles my other biggest highlights are 'April', 'June' and 'September' - if I am remembering my mental notes correctly, 'April' contains a really lovely string section, 'June' is the most loud and intense song on the album with a really great build to it, and 'September' does stand out quite a bit from the rest of the album as some parts of it are nearly a cappella giving it quite a haunting vibe. 'January' and 'October' were also highlights. A lot of the songs have quite simple and repetitive but entrancing lyrics, Rebekka Karijord's vocals have a bit of a ~mystical~ quality to them.

Not sure if this will be just a one-off album but I'd love to hear more from this project in the future!
