This weekend a whopping seven national selection shows* are picking their entries for Liverpool 2023, which will more or less double the number of confirmed entries by Sunday morning.

 

*okay Sanremo is more sort of its own unique thing and MESC is technically just picking the artist that will DNQ with a Melfest reject in May but still.

 

So the following countries are picking their song this weekend - what do we predict? what would be the ideal haul from this year's Super Saturday?

Let's see, this is what I'd want. Of course I will now curse them all.

 

Estonia - Sissi - Lighthouse

Either this or Alika would be good choices and I feel it'll be one of the two.

 

Romania - Andreea D Folclor Orchestra - Periniţa mea

should be the only choice but I fear its live performance might let it down, so I predict Statues.

 

Denmark - Nicklas Sonne - Freedom

For being somewhat rock-adjacent. Of course Denmark would never go for that, far too interesting. EYJAA would be pretty good too. So they'll go for Reiley.

 

Latvia - Alise Haijima - Tricky

Very boring selection, this one was the only one that stood out to me at all. Who'd I predict would win? Raum perhaps? doesn't matter it'll be semi filler either way

 

Croatia - Harmonija Disonance – Nevera (Lei, lei)

I also predict this one to win. Really don't think Croatia have many ways to mess this up though.

 

Italy

still haven't gotten around to listening to ALL of the Sanremo songs but it seems like Marco is a strong lock to win. So far I support Lazza.

 

Malta

I'm vetoing listening to all of Malta's crap. Brooke seems like she'll win anyway.
