Apparently we never had a thread for the part 1 of this album but here's one for part 2 :magic:

New album from British indie pop / alternative dance / insert genre of your choice band The Go! Team dropped last week, unfortunately became their first album to date to not chart in the top 100 at all (not even in the midweeks oops) but they've had a couple of top 40 albums in the past and one top 40 single.

There were 5 singles from this album - 'Divebomb', 'Look Away, Look Away' (with an uncredited, except on YouTube, feature from Beninese group Star Feminine Band) and 'Whammy-O' all dropped last year, 'Gemini' earlier this year and then 'The Me Frequency' (also with Star Feminine Band) a few days before the album. The first four singles are all complete fire and some of the most fun indie pop songs in recent memory which had me really excited for this album. Didn't love the last one as much and unfortunately that was kind of a sign for the rest of the album as I do think the first 4 singles are the 4 best songs on there.

Much of the rest of the album kind of lacks the same quirky energy as those singles and instead has like... a Jackson 5 feel to it? Which is not entirely awful or anything but it was certainly a swerve from expectations! Still produces a couple of other highlights like 'But We Keep On Trying' and 'Getting To Know (All The Ways We're Wrong For Each Other)' although my favourite album track is 'Going Nowhere' which goes in a more synthpop direction with vocals from Chisato Kokubo from J-Pop band Lucie,Too.
