For the third week running there is a brand new number 1, and it is a historic one as techno scene DJ Avalon Emerson (now based in Germany) takes the first single under her new name of Avalon Emerson & The Charm -entitled “Sandrail Silhouette”- soaring 5-1 and in doing so becomes the 500th #1 in the history of my personal chart which began 23 years ago. The fast changeover at the top means that Kelela falls back 1-2 already with “Contact”, but with Art School Girlfriend's “A Place To Lie” pushed back 2-3 and yunè pinku climbing 6-4 with “Night Light” that means there is all-female Top 4 this week.

 

Three tracks break the Top 10 this week- they are led by Yves Tumor's “Echolalia” which jumps 13-8 and becomes their 8th T10 hit, previous #1 single “God Is A Circle” exits the chart this week after 17 weeks on the chart. That means longest-runner honours is passed to yunè pinku's “Fai Fighter” (down 17-23) which is itself now on 17 weeks. Squid rack up their 6th T10 hit with “Swing (In a Dream)” up from 12-9 which serves as the first single from forthcoming 2nd album O Monolith due on the 9th June. Finally we have a debut Top 10 hit for Clark (aka, Christopher Stephen Clark) electronic musician who has teamed up with Thom Yorke on production duties for the pulsating “Town Crank” which steps up 14-10 this week.

 

We have seven new entries breaking this week with debuts for Icelandic singer JFDR - aka Jófríður Ákadóttir - (with “Spectator” at 32), Copenhagen DJ Courtesy, aka Najaaraq Vestbirk (with “Hearts” at 36), and Norwegian DJ/producer Kent Tonning (MRD with Narciss on “Midsommar” at 38) completeing a trifecta of Scandinavian electronica that blasts into the Top 40. There are also returns to the chart at 35 for Shygirl who has teamed up with Tinashe on a new mix of “Heaven” for the forthcoming deluxe edition of her debut album Nymph_o deluxe, at 43 for Vitesse X who had a #1 in November 2021 (the 473rd #1 canonically) with “Potential Energy” and now returns with “Right Now”, and a return for Canadian DJ & producer Jacques Greene with “Believe” fresh to the chart at number 40. A debut from Zanias (“Metrics” at 47) completes in the intake.

A great landmark #1 there! It's been bubbling under on my chart for a few weeks now. Nice to see yunè pinku in the top 5 this week. Not sure if you have noticed but it's up to #39 in the latest Multichart *.*

 

'Town Crank' somehow passed me by (I blame a lack of playlist presence), but thanks to you and Jade I checked it out and BANGER :music:

 

I'm really enjoying the new Polinski album - 'Distant Friend' is my fave so yay for it having a decent top 20 run here. Also great to see klurax on the rise. My faves of the newbies are Vitesse X, Jacques Greene, Shygirl, MRD, and Courtesy which was a BRILLIANT discovery - what a journey of a song ❤️

Welcome to my island has had a fantastic run thus far. Great stuff. It's only just reached a new peak on my own chart this week.

I really can't get into pearls but I do wish Jessie would abandon this sound. I donlive her but this feels like she's done it to death now.

Boy's a liar is great but I'm very much loving part 2. Ice spice adds so much to the song for me.

Unfamiliar with almost all of your new entries this week, so have added them to my new playlist for the week, along with Desire Marea's entry which I'd also missed. Am enjoying the Vitesse X song though, much more than her last release.

 

Good to see some songs within my own top 10 - Slowthai, Heartworms, Young Fathers - climbing up your chart, that U.S. Girls song has entered my top 40 this week too, and nice to see Swing in the top 10, not been taken by anything of Squid's before but loving that currently, definitely a potential future top 3 for me.
