Much concern has been voiced in the national press recently over the rise of support for the BNP and I wonder why this is?

 

The so called liberal elite/chattering classes have a lot to answer for with their imposed political correctness on the whole of British society over the last decade. By accident they have created a vacuum in society which has forced the silent majority to look for an alternative.

 

Disillusioned with the three main parties which are all now perceived as wooly liberals and anti-British traditions and values,BNP is striking a chord with many people across the classes. As sad as this may be, it is reality, and the three main ‘liberal’ parties ignore it at their peril.

 

A large proportion of the British public feel they have been forced into a corner by the politically correct thought police who try and impose their ridiculous liberal secularist ideas on the rest of us.

 

For many reasons I would never vote BNP, however, there are many who will at the next general election if none of the main parties stands for traditional British values any more. Perhaps we need a new political party to fill the right of cenre void that now exists, before the BNP do?

 

At the end of the day trendy PC liberals who have tried to impose their secular liberal ideals on the majority have only themselves to blame for creating this potentially dangerous situation in British politics. The silent majority have had enough and are starting to fight back and they will make their voice heard any way they can……even if it means voting BNP to give the three main parties a wake-up call.

 

a well constructed point brian :). i think you are correct here... i know many metal detectorists (who are mainly middle aged , self employed, white, ordinary working men) who are advocating voting bnp as a protest vote as we (yes ... we) see that political correctness (which our generation embraced) has gone too far. we see our tiny island getting swamped out by huge polulation shifts from poorer countries, and the errossion of our 'englishness' because its offensive or racist! ... utter bollox!

 

why cant we have the 'union jack'? why cant we have 'blackboards'? or 'black sheep'?.. why cant we celebrate our traditions ?..

You are utterly wrong Rob, it is not immigrants coming here demanding this and that be banned it is white middle class middle aged sandal wearer types who ban everything because they think it MIGHT be offensive to ethnics or whatever, in my town there was a thing recently of a nativity play being banned because it might offend other faiths the decision was taken by a WHITE headmistress who thought she was doing the right thing and there was not a single ethnic telling her to ban the nativity play, it is white do gooders who are the problem not the blacks and asians or whatever

Well, I haven't actually watched the recent "Robin Hood" thing on the Beeb (which I presume it what you're talking about...). But bear in mind that the Romans brought their slaves over when they invaded Britain, and many of their slaves were African/Middle Eastern, etc, so it's not totally outwith the realms of possibility.... And there is some very good evidence to suggest that there were Indian and Black Caribbeans brought over from the Colonies during the Victorian era, so again, I think you're the one in a bit of denial mate...

i was highlighting the general feeling amongst a certain group of white ordinary middle aged blokes.... who wouldnt normaly have any time for the bnp, this thread is about this political vaccum caused by being too 'pc', the examples i posted support this notion.

But most of the immigrants that are coming to the UK are from Eastern Europe, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and other types of country, the idea its a load of blacks and muslims swamping the UK is a myth and I would be surprised if the net total of immigrants is that high given hundreds and thousands of Brits leave the country every year

OK, the Polish immigrants work their nuts off - but of the ones I've encountered in Cardiff, and there are many - their command of English is appalling. I've met just two who can actually speak and understand English. Surely nobody, whatever their country of origin or eligious background or whatever, should be allowed long-term stay in any country without a full command of the local language first? And Scott, I take this on board with Brits in Spain, too... why on earth would you up sticks and move to a county where you don't understand a word of the local language?

I do think that there should be tests before someone is allowed to reside in Britain, an English language test that must be passed, a literacy and numeracy test that must be passed, a culture test that must be passed so that people who are coming to live here can show they know something about British history and British current events so maybe 40 questions on Britain past and present out of which at least 75% must be answered correctly before residence granted

 

This should be followed up every year with an English exam for the first 2 years to show that English is being learned and if it isn't then bye bye

The Robin Hood thing is pretty ridiculous... I'm glad I didn't actually waste time and watch it, I always knew it was gonna be sh!te..... At least in that pretty terrible Kevin Costner film, they actually spent time justifying the presence of the Mogan Freeman character.... The 80s series "Robin of Sherwood" did have a character in it who was 'from the East', but again, they spent time justifying it....

 

Isn't "The Ruby In The City" based on a book though...? So surely it would all depend on if this character was in the book or not.... If they were, then surely to leave the character out would be a bit of a dis-service....

I do think though that anyone coming here should know something about the country though, Australia I believe has a culture test that needs to be passed by any aspiring immigrants where they have to answer questions on Australia
