The latest live recording had a full week's plays and climbs to number 1. I had a listen to Ed Sheeran's Divide album for the first time in ages along with Beoga's mini album. And time to dig out a couple of Marillion deluxe sets. Beyonce's new album was released and while I only listened to a small part of it I did like Jolene enough to chart it. Sinead Lohan's name cropped up on an internet forum and that lead to me playing her cover of Bob Dylan's To Ramona.

OMD are moving in and out at the minute and Black Star Riders have also made it back in to the album chart. In the singes chart The Hooters debut with a song that I heard on a TV show during the week. It was a different Bonnie Tyler song that got all the airplay following the eclipse during the week but it was Holding Out For A Hero that I was listening to. The week saw the 35th anniversary of the release of Iron Maiden's Seventh Son of A Seventh Son and while the album narrowly missed out on the Top 10 a couple of the tracks did make the singles list. Dustin the Turkey made it onto one of my spotify playlists along with the Traveling Wilburys - it's possible that I'll be listening to the albums over the coming week.

She released her debut album in 1995 and the second and final album in 1998. After that she disappeared to start a family and has been absent from the music world ever since. Sadly our local indie shop closed shortly after last year's event and the nearest participant was a half hour bus journey away. Luckily there wasn't anything that I particularly wanted so there was no great rush to be there at opening time - I did go however and picked up a couple of releases that weren't actual RSD releases. First up was the Bryan Adams Live At The Royal Albert Hall vinyl box set which I ended up listening to via Spotify. Also got a 10" white vinyl double edition of Amy Macdonald's debut album but that doesn't chart as I didn't get round to listening to it. On the Sunday evening I went to see the fabulous Billy Joel Songbook show in Belfast - if you ever get the chance to see it, go. The live recording of the show made it into the album chart and would probably be a bit higher if it was on Spotify - I was listening to it on CD. Over the last few weeks I have been trying to play albums which I haven't heard for a long time and this week it was the turn of Gina G. This week I was looking forward to another concert - this one taking place on Saturday 27th and the big hit from one of the artists taking part in it returned to the bottom end of the chart - that being Maniac 2000 by Mark McCabe. Well a concert / disco... The Biggest 90s /00s Disco brings together around a dozen acts to perform their big hits in an arena setting. This time the venue was the SSE Arena in Belfast and the acts included Vengaboys, Five, Atomic Kitten, Phats and Small, Sonique, Rednex and Baby D. Headling was DJ Sash! and as mentioned previously Irish DJ Mark McCabe. His single Maniac 2000 topped the Irish charts back in the day and is still absolutely massive. It was what I was looking forward to most about the show and it didn't disappoint. A chance remark by a work colleague in a teams chat prompted me to listen to Queen's 1989 album and that edges it's way into the bottom end of the chart just behind an incredible 5 CD set featuring all the RCA sing;es by Bucks Fizz including the B-sides and instrumentals and extended versions. This one only arrived on Friday morning so should climb next week. Also out this week was the latest Now Yearbook which will hopefully arrive in time for me to listen to before next week's charts. Incidentally those are likely to be taken over by one artist - Bruce Springsteen plays Belfast on Thursday. I had pre-ordered the Belfast CD weeks ago and as I type this I'm expecting it to be availab;e for streaming in the next day or so and having heard great reviews online I invested in an mp3 of the Cardiff show on Saturday.

Bruce benefits from the release of the Belfast concert which I had attended the previous week. I have actually pre-ordered it on CD but in the meantime I have streaming access via the nugs app. This week's free stream on the app was the Barcelona show from 2016. I also had a listen to the Bucks Fizz set and they manage to place more songs in the tracks chart as a result. Gary Numan returns with Cars as I saw him live on 17th May. Erasure has been featured heavily on an advert on Irish TV recently. And a couple of current singles that have caught my attention as they climb the NI Hit 40 chart also enter. Also during the week I went to see Bryan Adams in Belfast. Both Bryan and Bruce are artists that I would have listened to a bit since the 80s but was never a huge fan of either. It's only really been in the last few years that I've got into their music - with Bryan it was the release of Get Up in 2016 and with Bruce it was the release of Western Stars in 2019. So to get to see both live in the space of less than 2 weeks was amazing. The Classic album had previously charted in week 3 last year (although a typo had it as Classics) - this week I finally bought a copy at the gig for what seemed like a reasonable £25. It turned out to be better than I thought as it is a double vinyl and when I checked Amazon and HMV it was selling there for £33/35. One of the tracks from Classic also makes a return to the singles chart (it had previously spent 2 weeks in the chart - weeks 2 and 3 last year - though I had mistakenly typed it as Lookin' For Love instead of Hidin' From Love. First time in an outdoor setting and slightly spoilt by the ****s who insisted on chatting throughout the entire show and ignored the music. Another 2 album chart entries from Bruce. The highest is a streaming release which has the original running order of the BIUSA album each track being recorded live from the tour. The other was the latest freebie on nugs. Heard the new Eminem single for the first time this week and loved it. The new one from the Saw Doctors was released the previous Friday and missed out on last week's chart but it has started to grow on me. The Sabrina Carpenter track has also grown on me and it is another new entry. I had a listen to Roy Orbison's Mystery Girl album and while it just missed out on the album chart a couple of songs made the singles chart.

When I started this I would be compiling the chart on a Friday night or Saturday morning. More recently it has tended to be Sunday afternnoon before I would get round to doing it so I've decided to go for a Sunday to Saturday chart week. This week also includes the previous Saturday. Following on from the success of the new single I went back to some of the older Eminem material this week. There was an opportuntity to get a copy of the new Bon Jovi CD with a signed art card through his official website so I took a chance on it and have to say I love it. Vocally so different but in a good way. Having been to see the Seven Drunken Nights show in Belfast the previous week I had listened to a few of the tracks which I had ripped onto my laptop from the soundtrack CD. They and the album would have done better had I been able to upload them as a Spotify playlist as that's where I tend to do most of my listening these days. The Layla track someone mentioned in a post on Facebook and I found it on Spotify.

I found out how to add the Seven Drunken Nights album so I could play on my phone! On Saturday night I went to see Take That playing in Belfast and listened to them a bit during the week in the lead up to it. The same with Olly Murs who opened for them. Earlier in the week I had gone to see Sting at the same venue. That was slightly spoilt by the large number of idiots who seemed more interested in spending the evening chatting to each other than listening to the Sting. I was more fortunate with his opening act, Blondie who do make the charts. The Bon Jovi album has started to grow on me and some of the songs head up the chart, Lower down the singles chart the new Wombles single with it's Beach Boys vibe creeps in. Caught Mike Batt on a couple of programmes during the week prommoting the upcoming Best of album and that led to me spotting Womblin' USA on Spotify.

The 2 Rag n Bone Man tracks were also a result of the Shania concert as he was on the bill for that one. And we had the release of a new song from Paul Heaton, the first from his new album.

Also dug out the Black Star Riders which I hadn't really listened to for a while. On Monday I was in HMV for the first time in ages and treated myself to some Blu Rays including Back To Black which I had missed when it was at the cinema. But the biggest surprise of the week is the new entry at number 1 on the singles chart. Having bought a ticket last week for a show called Pretty Vacant - The Story of Punk which is touring the UK and Ireland early next year there was announcement that the role of narrator would be played by none other than Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts from Coronation Street). When I heard that I had to dig out his single from 2000.

After focusing on the new album from Bon Jovi I went back to New Jersey And from the mid 90s two completely different acts - Scooter and Charlie Landsborough. While I had the record player on to listen to New Jersey I put on the vinyl edition of Live 75-85 as well. This week saw the release of the first single from the new Public Service Broadcasting album. After the disappointment of their last album this sounds like a return to form and I took a risk and preordered it on vinyl. The Mark Ambor song has grown on me after hearing it on the NI Hit 40 show and the other entry is there after rediscovering a YouTube video where Dutch DJ Gerard Ekdom lipsyncs to the song. This one which weighs in at 3 hours 45 minutes was recommended on a Springsteen fan forum. Alisha's Attic and Sandi Thom popped up randomly on Spotify along with Rick Astley. I may have been cheering on Spain in the Euros but 3 Lions was everywhere and I do actually like it. Finally a random new entry at 38. Back in the early 2000s I used to listen every morning to the Gerry Anderson Show on BBC Radio Ulster. Sadly when I changed jobs in 2008 there was no radio in the new office so that stopped and that was the last time I got to listen to the show as Gerry died in Auguist 2014. However someone recently shared a fantastic youtube video on Facebook a few months ago - a recording of a full show from 2012. It turns out that there is an entire channel of recordings (all full shows) and there are over 700 shows on there with more being added. One of the great things about the programme was that Gerry chose the music and there was a lot of stuff played that you wouldn't otherwise here. Lambeg Rant Rap was one of those. The other album I dug out this week was U2's Joshua Tree which I haven't listened to for a long time. Some recent singles make the chart including Coldplay, Shahnoozey and Sabrina Carpenter. I'm going to see the Saw Doctors later at the end of August so they will be making an impression on the charts over the coming weeks. Sound Sham is their upcoming single. Although it isn't dropping until mid August it charts via the original version which appeared as a bonus track on the 1996 CD single for To Win Just Once. Speaking of new singles, Weird Al's latest Polka medley has been released and debuts at 34. Doing much better for him though is his mash up of Money For Nothing and the theme from The Beverly Hillbillies which came up as a suggested video on youtube when I watched Polkamania.

I also had a long overdue listen to another Charlie Landsborough album and having heard the new Black Star Riders track I had another listen to their most recent album (Why Are The Rats? was originally planned to appear on Wrong Side of Paradise). Bryan Adams also released a new single this week - it's OK but I don't know if it will repeat the success of some of his other songs. I've been hearing Good Luck Babe more and more over the last few weeks and it has really grown on me. I used the DJ option on Spotify during the week when I couldn't decide what album to listen to and a couple of the songs it threw up have made the chart.

Some of the other tracks have also returned to the singles chart. With the news that Betty Boo has a new album available to pre-order it was time to go back and listen to a couple of her earlier ones. Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter both climb into the Top 10 and are almost joined by Shahboozey who dips slightly. Kid Kapichi were guests on the Chris McCausland show on ITV and performed Can Eu Hear Me on it. I was supposed to be going to see Madness in Belfast on Friday 9th but after the rioting in the city earlier in the week and a planned protest on the night of the gig I thought it might be safer to resell my ticket. Despite this One Step Beyond manages to enter the Top 50.

The main attraction was Liam Gallagher performing the Definitely Maybe album along with a few other songs from that era. To kickstart the day a local tribute band - Roll With It - did an afternoon show at the Limelight venue in Belfast city centre. This was the very place that Oasis themselves played in 1994 - in fact they got word that Definitely Maybe had gone straight into the UK charts at number 1 as they prepared for that show. The tribute band recreated the setlist from that night before playing a few bonus tracks as an encore. Interestingly tickets to see the tribute band worked out at just over £12 including fees. The tickets for the original show were a mere £6.75. This week saw the announcement of 2 shows by Snow Patrol to coincide with the release of their new album. After managing to get a ticket for Belfast I dug out the only Snow Patrol album I have - Up To Now. I also managed to buy a ticket to see Bad Manners who are doing a few Irish shows later in the year. Some random tracks coming up on Spotify - Shaky, Propellorheads and Scooter.
