Bono promises new sound

Virgin Net

U2 frontman Bono says the band's next album will take the Irish rockers in a new direction.

Bono reckons U2 have "reached the end" in terms of the sound on their last two albums.

The singer told the BBC: "Our band has certainly reached the end of where we've been at for the last couple of albums.

"I want to see what else we can do with it, take it to the next level. I think that's what we've got to do.

"We're going to continue to be a band, but maybe the rock will have to go; maybe the rock has to get a lot harder. But whatever it is, it's not going to stay where it is."

He added: "I would like to do a couple of tunes in that direction, with just a lot of space around the voice, I'd like to strip things down; that's something I'd be very interested in at the moment."

Do you think this change of sound is a good move or not?

Hmm, experiementing again? hmm not sure <_<

I mean don't get me wrong, I loved their 90's material but I'm hoping for more rockier material ^_^

As long U2 will not be hip hop or anything else than rock, I'd like to see more experimentation on their sound (like "Achtung Baby" compared with "The Joshua Tree")

they also say they are going for a new sound likewise they always say this is out best album in years when they release a new album
I don't like experimenting... :( It better be good. The last album was a lot different from all the others...

When can we expect this new album?

it was originally meant to be released last year, but I now think it will be summer this year or near Xmas. It depends. :(

I don't think How to dismantle an atomic Bomb was too different. Along with All that you can't leave behind ( ), it has been a return to the normal U2 sound from the 80's. Moving away from all the bizzare 90's dance/electro material ^_^

Whatever it is, i'm sure the album will be great. ^_^
