Posted December 31, 200618 yr Post your 2006 Overlooked Gem of an indie single here!!! nothing that reached the Top 40. nothing played on Ken Bruce :arrr: . only great records that were criminally ignored by the masses!!!
December 31, 200618 yr Not exactly singles, but The Automatic's cover of Gold digger by Kanye West, and Arctic Monkey's cover of Love Machine by Girls Aloud.
January 1, 200718 yr Author Not exactly singles, but The Automatic's cover of Gold digger by Kanye West horrid. hope the trend passes for 2007.
January 2, 200718 yr The Aliens - The Happy Song and Alienoid Starmonica EP. Criminally overlooked. Forshame everyone!
January 2, 200718 yr Richey - did the EP have "Only Waiting" on it? I'd say Peter Bjorn & John's Young Folks though it did make number 35 it still should've been a hell of a lot bigger! If I had to choose something from outside the top 40 then Stellastarr* with Sweet Troubled Soul.
January 3, 200718 yr RFC - Yeah, pretty sure that was track two. I also agree about Peter, Bjorn and John - that was a top 10 feelgood hit of the summer that never happened!
January 3, 200718 yr some of the bands that no one seemed to talk about much that were very good are Asobi Seksu, Caiotone For the Painfully Alone, King Biscuit Time, Band of Horses, and Whitest Boy Alive, and Tapes n Tapes. One song of that lot...? New Years by Asobi Seksu I guess... edit - Peter, Bjorn and John had quite a bit of buzz and commercial success i thought... I've heard them on the radio a few times even (and considering how little I listen to radio that's saying something!). Saw them live too with King Creosote - was a very enjoyable gig! January 4, 200718 yr I've only heard Young Folks on 6Music (where it was voted 2nd best track of the year) and nightime XFM..
