Apart from Joseph sending him to BJSC once before, there hasn't been any buzz at all on here for Merseyside singer Michael Aldag, but his new single cheating sounds to me like another No.1 single in a parallel universe, I'm amazed he's not a huge star yet.

He's big (and very funny) on TikTok, self depricating, quick witted, one of my favourite Gen Z singers of the last few years.

To me the sound is like Bastille singing One Direction songs, but with more modern/humorous lyrics.

He's doing a little acoustic tour next month, so I'm going to have to go that I think. His previous single girlfriends is one of the catchiest pop songs of the year too, and I love a lot of his earlier singles too.

It is not and I can prove it as I have multiple photos with him! Anyway ALBUM OUT IN MARCH he's really found his groove with his releases over the last year so I can't wait!

He performed cheating on his tour earlier this year and I LOVED it from the get-go, so I've been eagerly awaiting its release and I've been spamming it ever since it came out, think it could be my favourite song of his to date, and already I can imagine it being a song of the year contender for me. That chorus is undeniable!!

He's on a roll with his current run of singles, iaw -> girlfriends -> cheating is EXCELLENT, and his SOCIALIZING EP was top notch too. I really hope his breakthrough moment arrives soon!!

I’m really surprised he hasn’t had at least a small hit here yet, didn’t he support Caity Baiser recently? I could very much imagine him having a breakthrough soon like Caity, Mae Stephens, Cat Burns….the songs are there, his TikTok exposure is definitely there!

I’ve listened to cheating quite a few times in the last few days and girlfriends is definitely one of my most played songs of the year. “Your friends all wanna do lines but it’s Tuesday…” lyric refuses to leave my head

He did indeed support Caity! A factor in me buying a ticket to see her in London :kink: he just needs that one song to go viral because I think a lot of TikTok users recognise *him* but don't know he's a musician, not just an internet personality. I hope he gets that music breakthrough soon cause he's on a roll and has been for a while.

The acoustic tour sadly isn't coming anywhere near me :(

So I went to see Michael's gig in St Albans last night as it's not too far away from me and it was fantastic.

I don't think the capacity was more than 200 but the crowd made it feel much bigger as everyone knew every word and was massively supporting him on and cheering him, which isn't hard as he has such a huge stage presence and energy, and is hilarious too.

I still don't really understand how cheating and girlfriends haven't broken through properly, they fall into that category of viral hits that a lot of people have heard on TikTok/Instagram etc but that haven't crossed into the charts. I hope to see his career really skyrocket anyway at some point. He played a new track which sounded great too, he has a real grip on melody and catchy choruses as well as both funny and touching lyrics. Also did a cover medley of a Noah Kahan song and Taylor Swift's Love Story, which really went off. It was billed as an acoustic tour but was in no way a low energy show, partly thanks to the audience.

Glad you had a great time! None of the acoustic tour dates are near me sadly but I did see him perform an acoustic set last year, it was in the basement of some pub in London  he's got enough charisma and presence to sell a song even in acoustic form, and he hung around to meet people after too (which he even did after his bigger show recently, he came back out almost immediately to see people!)

New song Smoothie being teased now so that must be the next single. I'm still rinsing cheating, but this sounds great and possibly like it cuts off just before it really gets going! I think he may have even performed it at the aforementioned acoustic gig last year!

Yes he did perform smoothie last night too, it's a great track, very catchy.

The venue was also a (big) room at the back of a pub!

I think he did say he was coming out to meet people after the gig too but I had to get back. A lot of people did stay behind though, maybe a third of the crowd.

I'd happily see him again with full band/bigger crowd, he's got a growing fanbase but isn't quite taking off commercially the way I thought he would. 3 Beat is his label though which used to be well-known for importing European dance hits and turning them into one-hit wonders, not sure of any major artists it has developed really. Would be good to see him sign with a major and benefit from their promotional strength.

Hope you don't mind, made this into a more general topic for Michael's music!

smoothie is out now and he's done it again, so consistently great *.*

Sure, no problem.

I like this one too, he's stringing together a really long consecutive run of brilliant singles now.

New single sabotage out now!

Another really great one *.* went to the opening night of his Searching for Validation tour in London earlier in the week and he put on a great show as always, was great to hear the newer songs live (and sabotage before its release!). Met him again after the show and he remembered me
