:o I'm not sure what to think about that. We've got so many youngsters that it would have been nice to keep the experience of Lauren but i'm not sure he would have been happy being 2nd or even 3rd choice at right back. Good luck to him at Pompey :D

What is it with all of Pompeys defence? Pamarot, Stefanovic, Johnson, O'Brien, Primus, Campbell, Taylor, Traore and now Lauren. All of them are worthy of first team football and they seem slightly wasted there. Fair play to them, they're strengthening their squad to up their game but there are other areas that need strengthening FAR more than their defence.

You get my point though. The majority of their defensive players will EXPECT to be in the first time. Regardless of their ability.

I agree most of them deserve 1st team football. I wouldn't be surprised if a few teams in trouble came in for the likes of O'Brien and Pamarot.

 

Well Taylor prefers midfield anyway so that's one out of the way. Johnson is overrated and only on loan. Lauren-Campbell-Primus-Stefanovic should be the defence they play.

I agree, they must have the 6th/7th best team in the premiership on paper.

 

Pompey could do with buying Manuel Fernandes for the midfield but i think that's gone down the pan as they were told he could go for 12million while his club said 6million to other clubs :blink:

He's hardly even played for them though has he even when he was on loan? I don't understand why he wants him if he hardly used him anyway. They have a good enough midfield anyway with Taylor, Krankjar, Mendes, Davis, O Neill as well as Benjani who'll play there...

I read somewhere that Pompey had to buy him if he played 3 games in a row for them. It sounds quite strange though so it might not be true.

Do Villa still use the 4-3-3 they were playing at the start of the season? If they do, does this mean Young will be used as a striker now, as from what i've seen from Villa, the 3 in midfield is quite narrow.

I dunno what formation they play atm tbh but I imagine they'e bought Young as a striker. He's a decent player but he's not worth what Villa have payed for him, well he's not worth that much yet, but I guess to buy a player who's English nowadays you're always gonna have to pay over the odds prices.

I agree with the price being a bit much, although with about 10 other teams having a look at him, i think Watford have done well out of it. They're going to need a few new players to have any chance to survive in my opinion and that money needs to be spent really well by Aidy Boothroyd.
