Noel bigs up next Oasis LP

Virgin Net

Noel Gallagher says the next Oasis album is going to be "f***ing colossal".

The songwriter wants the band's seventh studio effort to be an orchestral-influenced, anthemic masterpiece and is keen to get in the studio and start work on it.

He told NME magazine: "All the songs I've written recently have been on the acoustic side. But for the next record I really fancy doing an album where we just completely throw the kitchen sink at it. I'd like to get, like, a 100-piece orchestra and choirs and all that stuff.

"I'd like to make an absolutely f***ing colossal album. I want it to be one, great, long anthemic hymn that has no dynamics to it whatsoever. Just one chorus for half an hour."

Noel already has a number of songs written for the record, including 'Stop The Clocks', the as yet unreleased track which was also the title of the band's recent 'Best Of' album.

However, the guitarist is most excited about his brother Liam's new compositions.

Noel explained: "'Stop The Clocks' will appear, then there's another one called 'I Wanna Live In A Dream In My Record Machine', it's about buying records and as I said to the boys in Kasabian, 'Yeah, man, its good!' It's kind of like 'Champagne Supernova'.

"Liam is writing stuff right now. 'Boy With The Blues' could be as big or small as we want it to be. It could be like a gospel track.

"It's about five minutes long but it could be nine minutes long because there's a great refrain in the chorus, that goes, 'We come altogether for you'. That could go on forever. I'm really excited about the record."
