March 16, 20241 yr I couldn’t make it all the way through, it’s way too long. Flame was actually my favourite on first listen too though, but I think that’s because it sounds most like the other songs of his I like. I saw an article on Billboard where they ranked all the tracks and they put Flame last though! Initial impression was it was a kind of 3/5 type of album for me. Not bad but not anything I’m likely to return to, and definitely too long.
March 16, 20241 yr I personally really enjoyed the album. Maybe a tad too long but nothing stood out as being bad. I think there’s elements of 00s Justin on this album. I’ll give it another listen but Flame did stand out for me as well as No Angels. The N-Sync collaboration sounding exactly like a Saturdays album track (Here Standing) was a surprise. Can’t call how his actual physical / paid sales will be but surely this will be heading for top 5 at worst?
March 16, 20241 yr I think he'll most likely debut at #2 again behind Ariana, there is always still a chance he will get the #1 tho! I didn't really enjoy the singles but will listen to the album soon to see if it's any better.
March 16, 20241 yr I don’t comment much on here about JT because of the hate but this could be his strongest album, no joke! Listen to Flame first, it’s life changing! The reviews on X etc are incredible, people that have listened to it without biased think it’s strong! Reviewers are mostly a certain type of person and he could have released the best album of all time and got a bad review! Honestly, there’s only 2-3 songs that aren’t 10/10
March 16, 20241 yr This is #4 on US Apple Music (albums) currently so without strong physical sales it might even miss the top 5 there :o
March 16, 20241 yr Shocking that in the US she didn't get any song in the top 200 on Spotify, not even the singles while Kacey Musgraves got 8
March 16, 20241 yr Not sure how true this is but.. @1769079014931472553 I definitely feel this could’ve done a lot better if it had been released prior to Britney’s book. The music actually isn’t the issue here. However it could be worth remembering for an artist at the stage in their career Justin is he’s probably still going to do well - just not *as* well.
March 16, 20241 yr I think music is partly a case, as it is not a brave album musically at all, it plays very safe. It would get more attention if more risky.
March 17, 20241 yr Man of the Woods was definitely MUCH worse than this, aside from Say Something and Living Off the Land - both of which are keepers for me.
March 18, 20241 yr So I just got round to listening to this and... it's a pretty average album. If we compare it to his first two albums (which he's clearly trying to emulate here in terms of sound), it's nowhere near as good. There are certainly some nice moments (of the songs previously unreleased, 'Flame', 'Conditions' and 'Paradise' stood out and 'Love & War' is my favourite), but I certainly won't be listening to the album in its entirety again. And it definitely suffers from being too long - if they'd just picked the best 11 songs, it would have been a decent album.
March 18, 20241 yr That's a pretty poor showing, I was honestly expecting him to be either #1 or #2
