The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber - STAY (No2 for 6 weeks, 2021)

Yes. Merci.

It's not quite the same as any of those but Madonna's 'Crazy For You' reached #2 on two separate releases 6 years apart - I'd say that's pretty unlucky, clearly it was just never destined to be a #1 single.
Right Said Fred I'm Too Sexy I believe was number 2 for a few weeks while Bryan Adams was at Number 1 with Everything I Do.

They were already mentioned in the OP

Indeed. Bobby Goldsboro's Honey did the same in 1968 and 1975.

What was the reason for this, was it re-released? In the streaming age it's pretty common but it seems very unusual for the charts in the 80's/90's.

It was re-released as a Q Sound remix to coincide with the huge success in 1990/1 of The Immaculate Collection. In '85 Crazy For You" was 16th-best-selling single of the year, so it was already a major hit, and so to hit #2 again 6 years later was quite an achievement.

Most unlucky is how it lost out to The Clash by like 1k :(

Although 'Music' was very lucky to get #1 by the same amount, so I guess it's swings and roundabouts.

And!!! if VB had been sensible and released one week later, Music would have been nowhere near no.1. It was V V lucky!!

I mean yeah, but in a way the chart battle being such big news probably benefited VB in the sense that it probably gave a big boost to her sales.

But it is swings and roundabouts, as then VB would have brought Madonna in on I Wish, and got to no.1 with that anyway
