It's straight in on top 43 years late for The Human League's Sound Of The Crowd, fresh from getting me onto a club dancefloor at the weekend, and a playlist ranging from Desmond Dekker's Israelites to Lizzo's About Damn Time. It's belatedly their 11th chart-topper and the third from their brilliant Dare album. The late Centenarian Glynis Johns is up to 2 with her so-sad 1973 song Send In The Clowns, written for her and spoken/sung best by her. Loved her voice as a child, and Mary Poppins.

Martin Garrix grabs his first top 10 since Animals topped the chart in 2013, and Billy Joel's first since River Of Dreams in 1993, 44 years on from his first, It's Still Rock 'n' Roll To me. Some oldies have been selling on itunes, so in pops some Bob Marley gems, boosted by his biopic at the movies. How does Bob Marley like his doughnuts? W'i Jam-in. 1978 that first charted for me. Belfast Child went top 10 in 1989 for Simple Minds, and Kaiser Chiefs topped my chart in 2005 with I Predict A Riot, and has sneaked back in for the 2nd time. I requested it last year at a 70th birthday party disco, just to give younger folks a break from the 60's and 70's stuff. Fab!

Dadi Freyr gets his 4th chart entry, robbed of a Eurovision win he was, by Covid! I'm Not Bitter, though, and his new one is pretty good, highest new track at 59. SZA has had two chart-toppers before going more rap oriented, but the new track is lovely, Saturn. Runs rings around some of her others. Rings? No? Please yourself! Jalen Nogonda is on a 2nd chart entry here, Illusions keeps up the vocal class and 60's soul vibes, Rebecca & Fiona get chart entry number 2, Jess Glynne keeps 'em coming for a decade of charting, and both The Feeling and Fall Out Boy are on a whopping 18 years and counting now!

Veterans Corner sees Rick Astley keeping his revival ongoing for 37 years (gasp) of charting, UB40 (minus Ali and 2 sadly late former members) are on 44 years as they cover the terrific Gimme Some Sign, the 1968 Brenton Wood soul classic, slowed-down reggae stylee, and Madness are a sweet 45 years into their career since Prince Buster charted and sparked the Ska 80's revival. I was dancing to them on Saturday too.

Hey Sven! :)

Thanks for the picks! No you havent missed YG on my charts - I've heard it a couple of times but the autotune-altered voice puts me off a bit so far. It's becoming a bit of a cliche these days, but loved Skip marley's track with Katy Perry and Bob's son Ziggy had quite a few I charted. Maybe I'll like his next one a bit more

cheers! B-)
