Posted November 29, 200618 yr Universal Music Group Chief Executive Doug Morris said on Tuesday the world's largest music company will post its best ever revenue and profit in 2007 thanks to new releases from its top-selling artists. Morris said Universal and other music companies are also starting to see new revenue streams from digital sources, including Apple's iTunes online music service and iPod digital media player, and mobile phone ringtones. "I think that next year we're going to have our best year," he said at the Reuters Media Summit in New York. "I think our revenues and our profits will be the best we've ever had." Morris said Universal Music, owned by French media giant Vivendi (VIV.PA: Quote, Profile, Research), will benefit hugely from new albums from Eminem, 50 Cent and two albums from Mariah Carey. "You can see there are myriad streams of income starting to come into the record companies," said Morris. "We're going to make money from MySpace, we're going to make money from YouTube, we're going to make money from Zune...we will make tremendous amount of money from telephones." I think one will be a compilation/live album of some sort, and one will be a studio! Enless... she has 2 studio albums out :o
November 29, 200618 yr I hope one is a reworked GH of some form - Through The Rain & The Mimi singles should take their rightful place on one cd with all the other amazing hits - oh and also the ORIGINAL version of 'All I Want For Christmas' please not that frickin Lil Bow Wow c**t one.
November 29, 200618 yr The weather outside is frightful. This is the sort of good news I need! Thanks Kalen. I wonder why she's releasing two? Is it a Shakira style staggered release? Or is there a new best-of? Can't wait for them, whatever they are!!!
December 1, 200618 yr *bounces* :bounce: *calms down a bit to post coherentlyish* Grrreat news. :cheer: *resumes bouncing* :bounce:
December 1, 200618 yr I'm trying to think what it could be. A sequel to merry Christmas would be cool  I think the best bet is a soundtrack to tennesse as well as a new studio album! Or maybe a live album from the tour. That would be FAB!

Or maybe a live album from the tour. That would be FAB! I'd love a second christmas album more than anything. More than a normal album, I think. The soundtrack theory is sensible - but wouldn't she want to stay away from soundtrack albums after 'Glitter'?
December 1, 200618 yr Well they won't benefit if it flops. Well we all hope it won't. You do have a point though. This article is very silly: Universal Music Group Chief Executive Doug Morris said on Tuesday the world's largest music company will post its best ever revenue and profit in 2007 thanks to new releases from its top-selling artists. It's based on one guy being optimistic. It's all based around seeing into the future.
December 1, 200618 yr but wouldn't she want to stay away from soundtrack albums after 'Glitter'? Didn't Mariah say that she was NOT doing the soundtrack for the new film? I'm sure I read a quote from her saying that...
December 1, 200618 yr Author She hasn't said that about this film, but she did say she'd do the Soundtrack for Wise Girls, but pulled out of that...

December 3, 200618 yr Author I loved the song Make It Go Away from Wise Girls, I have the Mp3, it's LUSH!
December 4, 200618 yr I loved the song Make It Go Away from Wise Girls, I have the Mp3, it's LUSH! I don't have that. I'm really ignorant about the unreleased songs. I just listen to the released albums and get all excited about them.
December 6, 200618 yr It's too early for another greatest hits disc. She had one of them a few years back (the 2 disc edition thing). It will be interesting to see what the two albums will comprise of, one of which will be a studio album for sure.

She can't do another Greatest Hits yet, I mean she can't use the Glitter tracks because they're property of Virgin. So who really wants an album with the few singles from Charmbracelet and the ones from Mimi? I hope for a live album, or a duets album or something, either way it's exciting. :D
December 6, 200618 yr Well there will probally be a studio album and the 2nd one might be a live album, with the whole live dvd and that! And I hope it isn't a gh, what would she have to put on there?
