Some very surprising but pleasant news today, Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis is launching a solo project! I'm not sure if it's a literal one-man solo act or a new band, but it's called Yannis & The Yaw and the first single (feat. the late Tony Allen) is out next week.

Their debut single 'Walk Through Fire' is Radio 1's Hottest Record tomorrow!

This is decent enough, but it's not an instant favourite.

 

Yannis has confirmed that Yannis & The Yaw is a project that will return 'in the future for further collaborations with inspiring musicians from across the globe'. His debut EP with Tony Allen, 'Lagos Paris London' will release on August 30th.
