May 28, 20241 yr Oh great, just noticed about the album while I'm happy she's putting out a debut album, really hate it when artists release a bunch of EPs and then the debut album is the sum of the EPs ohhh best news she's opening for Taylor in the UK
May 30, 20241 yr Author Oh great, just noticed about the album while I'm happy she's putting out a debut album, really hate it when artists release a bunch of EPs and then the debut album is the sum of the EPs ohhh best news she's opening for Taylor in the UK I’m not keen either, it seems like a dated tactic to me and I feel like doing it this way has kind of made this era seem… tentative. When I think a bigger splash could have been made, potentially, if she’d hit us with Vertigo the song alongside an album announcement. It’s been a long road for her to get to the point of releasing her debut album so I truly hope this roll out works well for her! By the way, personally signed albums can be preordered from Banquet! https://www.banquetrecords.com/griff/vertig...5054197919985SP Also great for her that she’s supporting one of the Taylor Swift London Wembley dates. Taylor has been pretty supportive of Griff, she did an Instagram story when Vertigo (the song) was released!
June 27, 2024Jun 27 Author The album has been brought forward by one week to 12th July! Sooooo how would we feel about me dropping my album early !???? I know we've all been waiting patiently. The past couple weeks have been so insane, I wanna give you the album asap. So I've regrouped with my team and Vertigo (my debut album!!!!!) will be yours in just a couple weeks ~ 12th July!!! Put it in your diaries. One less week to wait, one more week to listen and claim ya fav songs before tour... Love ya, Griff

July 12, 2024Jul 12 Author The album is released today! Tears for Fun is the focus track and is currently #1 on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist! Qogi_UPVLyY :cheeseblock:
July 12, 2024Jul 12 Author 5 posts in a row. :kink: Surely it's confirmed at this point that I'm BuzzJack's biggest Griff fan? Well, it's been a long time coming to reach the point of Griff having a debut album, and I'm happy that for me it's proved to be worth the wait. Emotional bops are like catnip to me and there's certainly plenty to be found here - she really excels at them! Miss Me Too, Anything, Tears for Fun... all 10 out of 10 moments. I wonder how the album will do? It's been 3 years since her Mixtape went to #4 (selling 5,436 copies to do so - only 198 copies behind #3!) but that amount of sales hasn't been enough for Top 10 recently. Fingers crossed for another Top 5!
July 12, 2024Jul 12 Can't wait to get home and have a listen Love her, she's so talented, hope she can do 6-7K and get top 5
July 12, 2024Jul 12 Listening now but adore her, she's so so talented and amazing live. Tears For Fun is gorgeous.
July 12, 2024Jul 12 Author Hiding Alone is absolutely stunning omg. This stood out to me too! The production feels like a bit of a different vibe to the rest of the album. By the way, 'Anything' on the CD (and possibly other physicals), and the Spotify/Deezer albums, is a different version to what was released as a single. The CD/Spotify/Deezer version is 3:05 in length and is quite different to the single version (3:08) - it has less ad-libs, different production, slightly different structure. Curious! I'm guessing it's an earlier version? Perhaps it's the version they were initially happy with when the physicals were pressed, but then it was changed up afterwards? I'm wondering if it's a mistake that it's made its way onto Spotify and Deezer. Because elsewhere (iTunes/Apple Music/Tidal/Amazon Music/YouTube) the album includes the single version of Anything.
July 12, 2024Jul 12 yes, looks like a Spotify mistake she's getting very good reviews, 4/5 in most places even NME love this review from Rolling Stone UK: https://www.rollingstone.co.uk/music/griff-...-pop-star-41313
July 12, 2024Jul 12 This stood out to me too! The production feels like a bit of a different vibe to the rest of the album. That, Tears For Fun and Where Did You Go? are my faves off if the ones we haven't heard. I do really wish she didn't release part 1 & 2 first though, it made it feel anticlimactic tbh :( which is a shame as it's such a good album! So happy to hear it's getting good reviews
July 13, 2024Jul 13 Author Indeed, releasing 9 out of 14 tracks ahead of the album was an interesting tactic! So for a first play of the album, it felt very familiar already. There are a couple more new tracks on the HMV exclusive CD though... looking forward to hearing those soon. Very nice to see a few great reviews too! Currently only 4 of them are counted on Metacritic and her score is currently 75 (3 positive / 1 mixed). The version of Anything on Spotify was fixed, it's now the 3:08 length version i.e. what had been previously released as a single. This version is also on the HMV exclusive CD! As well as So Fast being the studio version, rather than the Live in London version which appears to be on all the other physical formats.
July 13, 2024Jul 13 I only knew Vertigo, Miss Me Too, Astronaut and Anything before listening to the album (the latter is contending for my favourite Griff song, so so good!), which I'm glad about as there was lots of new stuff for me to enjoy! In the Walls, Tears for Fun and Hiding Alone were my other faves, but it's a really consistent, cohesive album, she shouldn't be so underrated! :(
July 17, 2024Jul 17 Author Bargains on her official store! Free postage currently, and price reductions. £4.99 for the cd, £4.99 cassette, £24.99 vinyl variants. https://shop.officialgriff.com/gb/ Personally signed copies can still be ordered from Banquet but I’m guessing today will be the last opportunity to get these: https://www.banquetrecords.com/griff/vertig...5054197919985SP
July 18, 2024Jul 18 Author There’s a new iTunes “Bonus Edition” version that’s £4.99, and is currently #2 in the iTunes chart! Includes Demos of previously unheard songs: do it again & lastnightsmascara, as well as 5 videos. The videos are Roundhouse live performances of Astronaut and So Fast, plus Visualisers of Where Did You Go, Tears for Fun and Hiding Alone. https://music.apple.com/gb/album/vertigo-bo...tion/1757674261 The album was still midweek #3 yesterday: 1 Eminem - The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) (31,621) [24,710 streaming, 6,911 downloads] * 2 Travis - L.A. Times (7,810) * 3 Griff - Vertigo (6,863) * 4 Taylor Swift - THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT (6,752) 5 Cat Burns - early twenties (6,021) * Even with Griff’s hustling, it seems inevitable that Taylor will end up well ahead of her on Friday (and probably Travis too). I hope Griff does enough to get to #4 though, and equals One Foot in Front of the Other’s peak!
July 19, 2024Jul 19 Author Griff held on to #3! 😍 In the end Travis fell from midweek #2 to #4, while Taylor went from midweek #4 to #3. Thrilled for her! View this post on Instagram
July 20, 2024Jul 20 I tried to like this album, but title track aside, it’s really not hitting the mark for me.
