Kasabian reach a new peak of 2 with the fab Coming Back To Me Good, one short of The SLP's chart-topper Nobody Else 5 years ago. Sabrina Carpenter sprints into the top 10 with Espresso, her biggest-ever track at 7 and Pet Shop Boys get 4 in the top 10, none of them lined-up to be singles. In a quiet week for new entries, the chart gets chopped down to 80 and Labi Siffre's 1972 hit Watch Me returns at 28 following a slot in the 4th episode of Doctor Who, which fit the theme of the plot and gives Labi some deserved PR. An advert brings back Sonny & Cher's 1972 chart-topper, All I Ever Need Is You, just enough for it's total chart-point "sales" to push it into my Top 1000 of all-time, new in here at 36. Darin grabs a second place on the list with Moonlight at 71, and Imagine Dragons get a 12th year of charting since topping my chart with Radioactive, new at 78 and Nice To Meet You. Frank Ifield died this week, my dad bought his Wayward Wind, so that belatedly debuts for me almost 60 years late, while his best record I Remember You also pops in for the first time. Frank first made my list in 1971 with Hitchin' A Ride, a record nobody remembers except me. I'm being literal about this, but it existed cos I taped it off the radio in Singapore that year. B-) Sorry I missed a chart, I was busy sliding backwards in the car in the Lake District, Hard Knot Pass, brakes wouldnt lock so gently slid down a steep 20 foot grass bank backwards, and then up another grass bank almost back on the road below. Talk about lucky! A whole week driving about, never again, too tiring! Hope your week was nice and relaxing! I agree about ESC tracks this year, I'd go so far as to say not as good as the last 3 contests and the one that got cancelled for Covid! The only one that is still growing more week on week is Zorra, camptastic cheesey disco.
