Sometimes I get the impression that some people actually want this album to fail by quoting all these pretty dubious facts and figures, y'know....?

I didn't quote it because I wanted it to fail, I like Evanescence. :(

I don´t trust the midweeks, last time it was #105 on midweeks and ended up # 43 on the actual chart.

I just checked last weeks and it was at #53 in the midweeks.

Not really targeting you tbh, it's just an overall feeling, people go on about how TOD is 'underachieving' or 'underperforming'.... It's like somehow triple platinum in under six months aint enough... Well, same thing happened with Nirvana really.... "Nevermind" sold over 10 mil, then Kurt decided to go against the trend a bit and came up with "In Utero" instead of just doing "Nevermind" part two, and frankly "In Utero" turned out to be Nirvana's best album by a bloody MILE in terms of the music. It 'only' sold three mil as well, but Nirvana fans generally accept it as being the best of Nirvana's three albums..... I think history will judge that The Open Door is a damn good album and very, very far from being a failure

I was thinking more a 'Smashing Pumkins' or 'A Perfect Circle' album to a 'Rasmus' or MCR album to be honest mate.... There are very obvious differences musically, TOD is a heavier, more musically complex album than "Fallen", with much better riffs, I honestly dunno how you cant see that....

I agree, but the same Evanescence feeling is just there even when the songs are slightly different. You can tell it's the same people who did Fallen. It's not the huge change they made from Origin to Fallen.

And no guys, they're doing well but yes, underperforming. Sales are lower nowadays but they're still not topping the charts like they used to. They actually stayed in the top 50 (or was it top 10?) with Fallen for over a year, I think.

Hopefully "Sweet Sacrifice" will help.

I really dont see why that matters to you if you're a real fan.... The false fans are the ones who jumped ship because they didn't get "Fallen" part two, and cant cope with the fact that Ev are a Hard Rock band and are following the path they were always meant to go down musically.... Let them bugger off and listen to the new Avril piece of c**p or whatever sh!te Ben Moody is doing with whatever Corporate Pop Star.... Nirvana did a similar 'cleaning of the house' job with "In Utero" to get rid of all the "plankton" and "c**k Rockers" as Kurt himself put it....

i dont care how the album does sale wise really...i have my own copy and love it i dont need the rest of the world to love it with me

to call lithium a disgrace is like slapping amy in the face. dont judge till you can make a better song yourself

How dare you insult Avril.

And I haven't abbandoned them - I'm just pissed and sad that the UK public choose to buy Americanised Urban $h!t and recylced British Indie bands instead of an amazing, touching song like 'Lithium'.

Please STOP comparing it to "Fallen"...... "Fallen" is, as far as I'm concerned, an aberration, an album by a totally different band.... Ben Moody's band, not Amy's band.... TOD is the real Evanescence, and TOD is the album that should have followed on from "Origin"..... The fact that Ben Moody is now pratting around with mainstream Pop Stars these days should really tell you all you need to know....

Well, I think you exagerated a bit... Fallen has a lot of sing-a-long songs but it´s far from being a c**p album, and not matter how good are the "hard rock" Evanescence, I think Bring Me To Life is always going to be a classic... And I don´t even consider Paul McCoy´s participation a bad "rap" - it´s just normal rock singing. I´m glad they didn´t do a song with Snoop Dogg or Jay-Z, Paul McCoy is fine and he comes from the same scene.

The fact this album is not such a mindblowing sucess is not something worryng... Most acts who have a huge debut don´t have such a sucessful followup. In fact, many of them flop very badly. Compared to other acts who are following hugely sucessful albums, Evanescence are doing Ok. Just look at Christina Aguilera, she sold less with 5x more airplay (I know it´s not pertinent to compare Evanescence and Christina).

Plus, what about the Amy statement that Lithium had "just" been added to radio stations? Is this the reason why the song was failing there, and is there a chance if will finally start charting?

I'm a fan of "Nevermind" as well. ;) Sales don't matter to me but I want one of my favorite bands to be successful cause they deserve it. I'm just saying, I don't see how TOD is much (if it all) heavier than Fallen. It's not that different. It's more advanced but not THAT different. If you're implying I'm a false fan then you're wrong. I'm a fan just like you if not bigger.

I think that if you forget about Ben Moody and the rapping parts on Bring Me To Life and just listen to Fallen, your opinion of it won't be as bad. Most songs are very well written.

That definitely hurt. The video was out, people were probably requesting the song, but the song wasn't even added sent to the radio by Wind Up. It's such a waste. It's incredibly YET commercial.

It doesn't have a chance now, Lithium is old and the hype is gone. In fact, less than 0.03 million people heard the song in the US this week. AWFUL.

Mate, I respect that you like Avril, but dont take a criticism of HER as a criticism of YOU.... That's how trouble starts.....

I dont like Avril, bottom line.... And I reckon a lot of Avril fans probably bought "Fallen" and are now going a bit "ohmygodohmygod, this new album's a bit too hard and scary..." (and no, I'm not really getting at you here, just making a general point, okay....? :) )

I'm a fan of "Nevermind" as well.

I dont really mind "Nevermind", at that particular time it meant a hell of a lot to me, but it aint as strong an album as "In Utero", nowhere close...

I don't think it got enough airplay, it's definatly a grower.
