July 2, 20241 yr agree with everything RabbitFurCoat has said. some England fans are so constantly negative it’s exhausting. the fact of the matter is that France’s performances have been arguably just as bad as ours, Portugal have been only slightly better, the Netherlands could very well qualify with the same sense of underwhelm (not to mention Italy, Croatia, and Belgium - all teams that are already eliminated despite having similar high expectations as England) but for some reason we’re levelling all our criticism at England? the tournament is wide open, we’re in the last 8 with every chance of pushing on to the final, which we would have taken in a heartbeat at any point between 2006-16. the sense of entitlement coming from some England fans despite the fact we’re getting the results we need is infuriating Spain had 35 shots against Georgia with 13 on target which is more than England have had in the whole tournament including the extra 30 minutes. There is nothing not to be negative about except the position which is purely down to luck at this point. When did you want to be honest if Bellingham didn’t score that goal? Too late then. England are gone. You have a very incompetent manager who will send England to a lame exit without ever having tried anything unless people say so. Croatia are not England, they were still starting Modric, their main striker wouldn’t get in a top half prem team. Belgium are out yeah and they outplayed England at Wembley not long ago. Which is the real root of the negativity this has been coming and he’s done nothing to change it. France been poor sure but they got to a World Cup final beating England along the way. So they can have a bad tournament. They’ve won two world cups in recent history. England have a great chance and you got an incompetent manager doing everything he can to ruin it of course it’s natural to be negative because there is nothing to be positive about.
July 2, 20241 yr Also important to note England don't have the credit in the bank like the other 'big 6' European countries who have all won major tournaments since the turn of the century. England fans are probably the most vocal as most of the population have never experienced success compared with the others. It's not seen as big as disaster should the other countries get eliminated as a greater proportion of the fans still have winning memories to at least fall back on whereas we're all starving for anything. My two cents anyway as obvious as it sounds.
July 4, 20241 yr I was just talking to someone and maybe Southgate can be forced into a 3-5-2 for the next game. Trippier is injured and Shaw isn’t fit enough to start. Guehi is suspended. Switzerland play 3-5-2 so to match up against them Pickford Walker stones konsa Trent saka either side Rice mainoo Bellingham Palmer Gordon either side Kane Obviously changing the system gives him an excuse to bring in Trent and palmer without upsetting walker or saka which he seems scared to do but he would need to drop foden which is maybe asking too much of Southgate https://x.com/footbalihub/status/1808553182634917916?s=46 👀
