Oops at the camera operator falling over during Meira's performance.

Den känslan is the only song I really love in this heat, that's going straight on my playlist, Linnea has a lot of charisma and it's a fresh sound for this contest.

I did enjoy Kamikaze Life, Hush Hush and Voice Of The Silent. All have a lot of potential to grow further, but are very generic in their own way.

Upp i luften is a bit of a poor man's Medina, I wasn't really feeling the live performance much.

Vår första gång continues to go right over my head.

  • Adding onto what's been said already, I think there's a sliding scale between "novelty" and "camp" where at one end you've got those late 00s entries where people had stopped caring/treated the whole

  • Yeah I agree and at the core of it, Eurovision should be fun! Imagine if it was all songs like Revolution or just a load of ballads, obviously some of the ballads are great, there’s some great pop son

  • I don’t understand such a polarising response to this song. It’s always been a popularity contest and a SHOW where countries chase trends and try to one up the other. Nothing changed, it just became a

Carina Berg's hosting felt very serious last year, I feel Keyyo and Edvin kinda brings back the fun and chill way I like mello to be.
Very happy Maja are DTF, but I'm gutted for Linnea, she came bottom 2...

Not Linnea going straight out :o Shame indeed, really good song and with the plump spot in the running order too.

Really pleased for Maja, she is a legend, I used to love The Sounds and I didn't expect her to get to the final at all!

Also really glad that Upp i luften didn't go further, a poor version of what other people have done better before should never make the final imo.

John Lundvik winning the heat isn't surprising at all but I'm not mad, his song's great and a big step up from his previous entry. Maja going DTF is a pleasant surprise, I thought Albin had it sewn up! I like both their songs but Maja's is more standout and will bring a great energy to the final I think. Albin's was definitely a weaker version of stuff we've heard before, as boppy as it was.

It was a good heat overall I thought, I really liked Meira's performance so glad she got to AC, and Adrian's track is probably the one I'll go back to most (but he's been on my radar for a couple of years already) even though I called from the start that it stood little chance here. Linnea's song didn't do much for me at all, took too long to get going and in a heat where I enjoyed all of the other tracks, it felt like an underwhelming closer.

The right three went through, was worried that Maja would be paid dust in favour of Albin but glad to see it through to "I can't believe it's not Andra Chansen"

Linnea being bottom two feels like a bit of an upset, but whilst it was nice, we did have the right songs in the top 4 for me.

Was torn in that 'finalen or bust' as they were my favourite two, in the moment I was rooting for Upp i luften as the one I wanted to experience live in Stockholm, but it's true that we've heard the exact same song before from Medina, Samir & Viktor, Panetoz, Anis Don Demina etc. Not that Kamikaze Life is original either, but it's an anthemic bop and more unexpected for her to get through, so I'm very pleased for Maja.

Linnea should’ve been DTF and I won’t accept any other result.

Also does anyone know how the voting Now works?

Is it simply just most votes etc? There was a point when it sounded like they were announcing groups but I couldn’t be sure

Sounded like the results are still based on how they did in each age group, but not sure. When they were about to reveal the first artist who were going DTF, they announced every artist and which group they did the best with. I don't remember who, maybe Albin, but they said someone received the top marks from the youngest.
The reveals for each age group individually in recent years felt like an anticlimax so I'm glad it's been scrapped, I think the system's still in place but they've gone back to a more traditional reveal which is much more tense I think.

Hush Hush is by far the highest on Spotify in Sweden interestingly, with Maja second and John third!

Imagine the Melfest final televote giving 5 points to John and a recreation of the Eurovision vote receipt expression :drama:

Maja does on paper feel like bottom of the final fodder, but I thought that a bit about Cazzi Opeia last year (as much as I dearly love it/her) and she finished 4th, so you never know.

I always think about that song Only The Dead Fish Follow The Stream that randomly clawed its way to 4th in 2013 too, the audience do like a catchy pop song by an aging legend!

My ratings:

Hush Hush (9/10)

Kamikaze Life (7/10)

Den känslan (6/10)

Voice Of The Silent (5/10)

Upp I Luften (5/10)

Vår första gång (4/10)

Spotify Sweden today:

1. Hush Hush (!)

3. Kamikaze Life (<3)

(4. Käärijä's interval song)

8. Voice Of The Silent

12. Upp I Luften

15. Den känslan

16. Vår första gång

If only John Lundvik had been the 'second chance' song and Meira and Maja were the direct finalists.

I really like Voice of The Silent, but I have to tune the lyrics out  Hush Hush is very late 00s Greek entry which I love too. Kamikaze Life is alright but nothing I’d go back to loads.

Have had a couple of plays of Klara's entry, it's strong and I love the final minute in particular, but it's not quite matching "Run to the Hills" for me.

Looks like she's bringing staging too, though I'm not sure it sounds like something that Sweden would send to Eurovision.

Yeah, it’s not as good but still very strong. I LOVE Nomi’s song!

Klara's entry is really good, quite a schlager move to have that sudden slowdown towards the end before it ramps back up. Very catchy track.

Talking of schalger, Don Juan is quite the Waterloo pastiche. Very early 00s Melfest Kikki, Bettan & Lotta vibes too. Top marks from the older voters at least.

Instantly loving Nomi Tales, feels quite leftfield pop as far as Melodifestivalen goes, but super catchy.

Salute sounds pretty good, all these uptempo party anthems pretty much fade into one and the same but this has more of a football/carnival vibe so it could do well.

Wasn't super sold on Erik's song, he's had better in the past I think, and The Heart of A Swedish Cowboy could be a surprise vote winner with the middle aged voters, it's not massively my cup of tea though.

Predictions:

DTF: Klara, Nomi Tales

Second chance: Kaliffa or Fredrik

Out: Kaliffa or Fredrik, Erik, Schlagerz
