Manic Street Preachers have quietly emailed their fanbase with a gentle tease about... something.

The email has no further details, merely the following four lines -

So Much For The Calculations

So Much For Standing Tall

So Much For The Implcations

So Much For The Decline & Fall

Great news! Can’t wait for new stuff

Decline & Fall, the band's new single is released at 5pm on Aug 29th

Not sure what I think of this. It's a bit lightweight fluff on first listen but they usually win me over somehow in the end

I'm really enjoying it. It's got that anthemic sounding melody that I love them for.

It does sound like something from their last album, but I'm quite enjoying it - it's definitely very catchy.

They're the main act on Later... with Jools Holland next week (who perform 2 songs), so I expect a new single will be out by then.

Is the Autumn Jools shows started or starting next friday?

doesn't it start this week with Jade, Blossoms, Laura Marling etc?

Yeah, first episode is tomorrow with Blossoms, etc.

Manics are on the week after.

The new album title is 'Critical Thinking', no release date or pre-order yet though!

Announcement at 10am tomorrow

Hopefully it'll be a new single + release date for the album announcement.

really hope its Jan/Feb 2025, thats what they said in the NME interview

My bad. 10am Friday

Ah well, something to look forward to

I still think ‘International Blue’ is their best single since 2010 or so!

‘Hiding in Plain Sight’ released at midnight… so I assume the 10am announcement will be for the album!

'Critical Thinking' is officially out on 31st January! That date currently puts them in good stead for the #1 album.

'Hiding in Plain Sight' is apparently their first ever single to feature Nicky Wire on lead vocals.

I've just been listening to it and I wondered why the vocal sounded a bit different to usual!

Very much has an Echo & the Bunnymen vibe to it
