Posted January 14, 200718 yr AUSTRALIAN singer Kylie Minogue was forced to cut short a performance on her comeback tour following treatment for breast cancer because she was suffering from flu, her publicist said. The London-based diva managed to perform only half of a scheduled two-hour concert this evening in Manchester, northern England, spokesman John Bills said. "Several members of the crew, the tour manager and Kylie have been suffering from flu - but she didn't want to let anyone down. She wanted to try to get through the show, but had to cut it short,'' Mr Bills said by telephone from Manchester. He said there was no connection to Minogue's recovery from treatment for breast cancer, which led to a year-and-a-half career hiatus before a comeback tour that began in Sydney, Australia, last November. Minogue, 38, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005. She underwent successful surgery in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, that month, followed by five months of chemotherapy in Paris. Mr Bills said the tour manager would make a decision on Sunday on whether to proceed with Monday's show, the second of five scheduled in Manchester, 316 kilometres north of London. source: www.news.com.au
January 14, 200718 yr I don't like the sound of that. Mel Appleby died from a cold just after she'd beaten cancer. I really hope history doesn't repeat itself. Best wishes to Kylie, hope she gets well soon.

January 14, 200718 yr Did she have any more shows left ? She must have been feeling bad before going on stage in the first place. I wouldn't want to do that with flu :( I hope she gets a chance for lots of rest now, and recovers quickly  Edited January 14, 200718 yr by Dory

January 14, 200718 yr Sunday, 14 January 2007, 18:01 GMT BBC News Sick Kylie cancels two further concerts Kylie Minogue has cancelled two further tour dates after ill-health forced her to pull out of a concert on Saturday. The singer ended a concert after just one hour at Manchester's MEN Arena on Saturday, telling fans she had a cold. Minogue, 38, launched the UK leg of her Showgirl Homecoming Tour on New Year's Eve, following her recovery from treatment for breast cancer. A spokesman for the star said doctors ordered her to rest after diagnosing a respiratory tract infection. Her spokesman said: "Kylie has been diagnosed by doctors as having a moderately severe respiratory tract infection and doctors have insisted that she not perform in the immediate future." It means concerts at the MEN scheduled for Monday and Tuesday have been cancelled, but it is not thought that Thursday and Friday nights concerts will be affected. Promoters will reschedule the cancelled dates at the earliest opportunity. It is not known whether Saturday's halted performance will also be rescheduled. A recorded message on the MEN ticket hotline said: "It is not yet clear if and when the concert will be rescheduled, although all customers are advised to keep hold of their tickets as these will remain valid for any new date announced." Fans are being urged to check the MEN website for further updates. Minogue has already played seven dates at Wembley Arena which were to be followed by the six concerts in Manchester. Kathryn Scott, from Halifax, who went to Saturday's concert, told the BBC News website she was "disappointed". "I don't even think she was actually on stage for an hour, as she kept going on and off for long breaks. "She just said to us 'don't worry, I've just got a cold', but obviously she couldn't go on. "She was obviously full of cold, and none of us would want to perform if we felt like that. Everyone was fine about it, we just clapped, because we all know how ill she has been. "I wish she had just cancelled altogether. I feel she was forced to go on and do the four songs so they wouldn't have to give refunds." Kevin Winder, from Manchester, said he enjoyed the show despite it being cut short. "Kylie came on the stage and looked fine when she sang Better The Devil You Know, but then she said she had a sore throat and croaked. "I saw her in concert in Perth and on New Year's Eve, so I know she completely missed out the second 'act' when she came back on stage after a short interval. "She did another song in her leopard-skin outfit, but then motioned to the band not to start up again. It was then that she told us she was really sorry but she couldn't go on. "But she went on to do an impromptu version of Got To Be Certain then sang Kids with her sister, Dannii, which brought the house down. "She gave it her best shot. She was an absolute star." Mr Winder added that MEN management announced that the show would either be rescheduled or refunds would be given. Cancer diagnosis Minogue had been forced to postpone her original Showgirl world tour after her breast cancer diagnosis in May 2005. She underwent surgery in Australia two days later and finished her chemotherapy in December 2005. It had been hoped she would also play at this year's Glastonbury festival, after pulling out of a headlining slot in 2005 following her cancer diagnosis. But earlier this month festival organiser Emily Eavis told BBC 6 Music Minogue was too busy to join this year's line-up. Minogue's record company, Parlophone, has also said she is working on material which could be released in 2007. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Were you at the concert or do you know someone who was? Send us your experiences using the form below. Just returned home from the concert. Kylie was incredibly brave to try to continue with the concert as long as she did. I would have been happy for her to mime through the rest of it, but only Kylie knows how ill she feels. Allan Bird, Warrington Just got home from the MEN, disappointed not to have seen the full show but Kylie's health comes first. The performance she gave was fantastic and she obviously did not want to let her fans down. She did say that the fans should not worry and it was just a cold. Lizzie, Bury, Lancs Kylie performed for just over the hour and it was obvious she was not right. Not sure if we will get money back or option to see her again? Really wanted to see her concert she is so brave after what she has been through. Matt Berrey, Droitwich Kylie love you loads you are a genuine star. Get better soon Peter, Manchester I paid £55 each for 6 tickets, it's a total disgrace. She said she was ill after the first song so she should have given up then rather than give the audience a half hearted 30 minutes. Mike Edge, Manchester Just been to the concert. Gutted! Kylie looked genuinely upset to be pulling out, and her sister joined her for the last song, a version of Kids. Still can't believe it, hope she gets better soon. Claire Davies, Manchester, UK Just heard from my wife and her friends who have travelled up to Manchester today from Wiltshire. They are all devastated - they've waited for years to see her. Hope Kylie makes a speedy recovery Matt, Chippenham, Wilts
January 14, 200718 yr i woul dsay thats what she is gonna do and i also think it will be a long time until kylie tours again
January 14, 200718 yr I have to say that Kylie should not have gone on tour after her treatment! She should've taken a break and worked on her new album, taking her time and getting used to her body again! I just think she rushed herself into touring again when she was clearly not so ready! She needs to put her health first. She could've released the new album later this year and gone out on tour say April 2008. And she's performing like 250 songs lol gurrl stick to numbers that your able to do! I just wanna give Kylie a big hug and give her my bed to sleep in and just tell her to "Relax Char!" :)
January 15, 200718 yr Get well soon Kylie ! I think she should read more often the "Kylie Says Relax" t-shirt ! :o LifeLight
