I agree in principle, I've long held nuclear disarmament and cutting in defence spending as something to aim for.

 

Unfortunately doing it while also weakening the democratic international order by cosying up to dictators is just going to lead to a much more anarchic world situation where barriers to conventional conflict are lowered.

To tie in both your posts JD Vance stated basically he thought we(the west, NATO) were spending and acting in the interest of democracy but he thought what took place in Romania was the opposite of that.
