Does it hold up?: Starting off with a track that was originally released in January 2023 so we're almost 2 years out from it's release now. That will probably help explain somewhat why it's probably the song I've gone back to least from last year's top 10. Listening now I'm still enjoying it; especially as it feels a little more 'serious' that he other songs which makes it a real standout. I do think it's one I will look back on in the future as being an odd EOY top 10 finisher though.

Now we have a song that's even older than Rebecca Black's effort. Releasing in December 2022, this is now 2 years old but still sounds fresh to me. It does sound like a throwback to Watsky's old sound so it's retained a nice nostalgic edge that means it's the track of his I'm likeliest to go to when I'm in the mood to listen to Watsky.

Does it hold up?: This is still an absolutely massive tune. Made all the better by how disappointing the rest of the album was. The most disrespected song of 2023; It's a crime that we let 'Who Told You' become a massive hit instead of this.

06. JISOO - FLOWER

 

 

 

 

Does it hold up?: You may or may not know that JISOO is my favourite member of BLACKPINK (she's been my signature for years now) but she seems to be the member with the least ambitions to have a solo (music) career. My hype for this was so high last year that it probably helped it end a few places higher than it should. With Lisa, Rosé & Jennie all having released this year, my BLACKPINK itch has been well and truly covered without needing to go back to this too often.

05. Olivia Rodrigo - bad idea, right?

 

 

 

 

Does it hold up?: Despite the Co-Op's ineptitude meaning that I didn't get to hear this live this year as planned, I've still been loving this. The wacky instrumental is such an interesting choice for Olivia and really makes it stand-out in her album. Next year I will finally hear it live but for now I will have to settle for watching the tour film on Netflix.

Nice to see "Bad Idea Right" in your top 5 for the year-end last year! Probably my favourite of Olivia's discography.

04. Maisie Peters - Body Better

 

 

 

 

Does it hold up?: Yes, this would probably be my #1 if I were to re-rank last year's chart. This was the perfect lead single for 'The Good Witch' and it's crazy that I only let it debut at #7 in my chart. It was my most played song of 2023 and it's continued to be on rotation this year. I'm so excited to hear what she's been cooking up for the lead of her next album.

03. Madison Beer - Home To Another One

 

 

 

 

Does it hold up?: I'm still not over this one at all. It's so short that it demands repeat listens and it hasn't get old no matter how many I've heard it. I saw Madison twice on concert this year and this was always a highlight.

02. Dua Lipa - Dance The Night

 

 

 

 

Does it hold up?: I do still love this but I probably wouldn't have ranked it as high as #2 in retrospect. With Barbie being so huge in 2023, it really seemed to define that year. 'Radical Optimism' was a bit of a disappointment as an album so Dua won't be appearing this high again this year but will still have a couple of entries.

Does it hold up?: I still absolutely adore this and the whole album has remained on constant repeat for me all year but I would now probably say I would rank it bronze. Probably because I've spammed it too much but it hasn't been able to retain that spark that made it such a special track. It's still a 10/10 but it was an 11/10 for me last year.
