December 30, 2024Dec 30 All these sound decent in the clips but will need to see how they are performed, Lyra, the one we have thought would be an excellent choice for Eurovision is finally in there but the song sounds the weakest one in there but the quality of the clip is bad aswell, Lyra can deliver live so i am looking forward to see how she delivers even in the crap late late studio which never does the songs justice.
January 14Jan 14 Is Lyra confirmed? After years of rumour it would be great if she is a confirmed participant, if she enters and wins the chance to represent Ireland she would have the ability to command the big stage. Edited January 14Jan 14 by pippa
January 16Jan 16 Im assuming she is confirmed but rumour is its one of her weaker songs which if true is a shame. I know Lyra was mentioned a few times and she has always denied it over the years but she obviously saw how well things went for Bambie Thug and might be thinking it can boost a career if it goes right, as Bambie Thug did well out of it, if Lyra has the right song she def can pull off a good performance and i could see her putting on a good stage show but we have to wait and see if she is a participant and what the song is like, either way i could see her winning the public vote in the selection process but the panel is a completely different thing as there choices are often questionable.
January 17Jan 17 So it seems like Ireland will have a ‘wildcard’ entrant in the selection competition and it is a singer known internationally. I wonder who it could be. Samantha Mumba has a new song out soon called My Way….. Edited January 22Jan 22 by diamondtooth
January 23Jan 23 Samantha has entered the race to represent Ireland at this years Eurovision My Way Nice enough song, I feel like it tries to be epic and I'm not quite sure it succeeds. Nice vocal though! Here for her getting some kind of resurgence though.
January 23Jan 23 Would love to see Sam Mumba at Eurovision. Always a travesty she just disappeared after 'I'm Right Here' & The Time Machine
January 23Jan 23 Eurovision can do no harm at all for someone like Samantha but ideally she will have a belter of a song that if she makes it through can be great on stage.
January 23Jan 23 Samantha Mumba now supposedly in the running for the Irish National Song Contest, imagine if both her and Lyra enters, if true it shows how Bambie Thug doing well has made people think oh maybe i will give it a go, if Bambie had flopped i couldnt see Lyra or Samantha even considering entering.
January 23Jan 23 I love Samantha Mumba but don’t think the song she has entered is very good. I like some of the other songs in the Irish selection though.
January 23Jan 23 Happy to see Samantha around again but the song seems to build and build to nowhere. I'm not sure I see her winning the ticket to Basel. Fire is my favourite of the songs released so far, but the chorus could have been a bit bigger for it to be properly competitive. Nevertheless, it's sounding a much better quality standard on the whole than Eurosong usually has so Bambie obviously invigorated things a bit.
January 25Jan 25 Samantha needed a whopper of a song for this as I'm sure she is doing with the hope of fueling her music career again.
January 25Jan 25 None of these have a patch on Bambie unfortunately (was always going to be a hard ask so I wasn't expecting), but Bobbi Arlo comes the closest in that it would continue a relatively artistic and interesting pick, and it's not a copy at all. That's the smart pick, now it's on Ireland to choose the smart pick.
January 25Jan 25 Author My rating: 1. Fire (7/10) 2. POWERPLAY (7/10) 3. My Way (7/10) 4. Growth (7/10) 5. Run Into The Night (6/10) 6. Laika Party (6/10) Top 5: 6.80/10 Overall: 6.67/10 these are a decent bunch but nothing i would come back to
January 26Jan 26 I think we need to see the performances before we can fully judge as it could change everything.
January 28Jan 28 1. Emmy - Laika Party (so random that this is in here, but Norway's loss is Ireland's gain) 2. Adgy - Run Into the Night (bit lowkey but quite enjoy the chill vibes and the hook is catchy enough I guess) 3. NIYL - Growth (there is a catchy hook in there and I'm placing it here in my ranking based more on thinking it would grow on me to be in this position) 4. Bobbi Arlo - POWERPLAY (I listened to this on the day it was released and hoped what I was listening to was just a bit low quality, but listening today, nope. The hook is quite underwhelming and I hate when Eurovision songs don't make use of the full 3 minutes that they're allowed -_-) 5. Samantha Mumba - My Way (takes a long time to get going, once it does there are catchy elements but it also feels like the vocal is getting overwhelmed by the music?) 6. Reylta - Fire (finding this quite nothing-y and forgettable) "Laika Party" is SO far ahead of everything else for me, and the only one that would keep me on board the Ireland train, but would they vote for someone with no connection to the country :( oops, looks like my ranking is almost an entire reversal of uhsting's :kink:
