It wouldn't be changing the cars just for one track. Hungary, Jeddha, Barcelona, Singapore, Miami, Suzuka, Imola all have problems delivering overtaking. You would improve the racing across the board.

  • It was hit and miss. For the hardcore fans who hate the overall commercialisation of the sport in the past 10 years it would have been a nightmare but generally it was a perfectly serviceable event. A

  • I went to the exhibition when it was in Madrid and found it to be great! Was a nice way to spend a few hours. And that trip was bookended by a trip to Fernando Alonso’s museum in Oviedo to see the hol

The Belgian Grand Prix has secured a new contract that will keep it on the Formula 1 calendar for four out of six years from 2026-2031.

It is the first deal of this type signed by F1, which is seeking to find ways of accommodating new events in an already crowded calendar.

The contract dictates that the historic Spa-Francorchamps circuit will host races in 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031.

However, in 2028 and 2030 Belgium will be replaced by another race.

In years to come, people will look back at this and say 'here was where they crossed the line and the seeds were sown for losing the best circuit F1 ever had'.

Go now while you can.

Speaking of tracks that we will lose, one of Imola, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez or the Las Vegas Strip Circuit will drop off the calendar following this year's race.

It's unlikely to be Las Vegas given Formula One have put so much effort in to it and so it's a toss up between Mexico and San Marino (I know).

Will Mexico still be willing to stump up the cost given there won't be any local drivers to cheer and this could affect attendance or will Liberty look to drop yet another classic European circuit?

Worth bearing in mind that Northern Italy is far from poor and money is unlikely to be an issue. Also, Imola is effectively Ferrari's home circuit, much more than Monza is, although that didn't stop it disappearing in the past.

Personally, whilst neither of the two offer great spectacle in terms of racing and both have lost absolutely brilliant corners (Tamburello and Peraltada) from their heyday, I hope it's Mexico we lose. Imola just offers a much greater challenge to the drivers and whilst both have passionate fans and a great atmosphere, the Tifosi shade it in this respect. Imola also has so much rich history and that is a priceless asset for the sport.

What would be everyone else's preference to lose?

Mexico to go please!! sure Mexicans sure won't be that invested now that Perez is out

For Mexico or Imola it's a no brainer, Mexico goes every time.

On Spa I'm quite conflicted. On the one had I'm all for rotations to come into place, ideally with the view of reducing the calendar down to 20, and the races it produces are far from top tier - it's easily a track I could see less of, but it's always a shame to see less of the sports historical base whilst we go to more places with no passion but tonnes of cash.

Fun fact - the 2025 season will be the first since 1988 not to feature a Finnish driver in the grid.

If Keke Rosberg had raced the two years '87 and '88, that record would go back to 1976.

I'm pretty sure only Germany and Britain can claim a longer record with both going all the way back to 1950 (and beyond)

I'd like to see Leclerc win it too but there are still question marks about his consistency, especially when under pressure. Even if the Ferrari is streets ahead this year, Hamilton should be able to challenge him at least occasionally. maybe even repeatedly.

I'd be happy enough to see Verstappen win it again as he is the best driver out there right now.

Of the other expected front runners, I'd be content with Piastri or Antonelli, although both, especially the latter would be a major shock.

I expect Norris, Russell and Hamilton to be in contention for wins and potentially the championship.

Ultimately I think whoever out of Max, Charles, George or Lando has the best car, will walk away as champion. Ferrari as Constructors (he says hopefully)

I think the car matters the most, think it's gonna be McLaren vs Ferrari
didn't know Colapinto was somehow transferred to Alpine as 3rd driver!

Former grand prix driver Johnny Herbert has been dropped from his role as a steward in Formula 1.

Governing body the FIA said that Herbert's "duties as an FIA steward and that of a media pundit were incompatible".

The statement added that the decision was made "with regret" and that the three-time race winner was "widely respected and brought invaluable experience and expertise to his role".

The FIA refused to comment further, but disquiet was centred on the 60-year-old commenting on decisions he had been involved in as an FIA steward on a number of betting websites.

Last year, Herbert found himself in the middle of a public row with four-time world champion Max Verstappen's father following the Mexico City Grand Prix, at which the Englishman was a steward.

Verstappen was given two 10-second penalties for two incidents with McLaren's Lando Norris on the same lap.

His father Jos Verstappen said after the race that "the FIA should take a good look at the staffing of the stewards, who they put there and whether there is no appearance of a conflict of interest".

In an interview conducted via a gambling outlet, Herbert rejected accusations of British bias as "ridiculous", and described Max Verstappen as "very worldly - he's very open to chat about anything and you have a really nice conversation with him".
