February 5Feb 5 Author Travis Scott’s ‘4X4’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 By Gary Trust | 2/3/2025 Travis Scott’s “4X4” debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The track, released Jan. 24, marks the superstar rapper’s fifth Hot 100 leader, following “Franchise,” featuring Young Thug and M.I.A. (one week at No. 1 in October 2020); “The Scotts,” billed to The Scotts, Travis Scott and Kid Cudi (one, May 2020); “Highest in the Room” (one, October 2019); and “Sicko Mode” (one, December 2018). All have debuted at No. 1 except for “Sicko Mode,” which started at No. 4. Scott appeared at the College Football Playoff National Championship halftime show on Jan. 20, when he debuted “4×4” atop Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. All proceeds from the song’s CD single, among other of his offerings, benefit Direct Relief’s California Wildfire Response Fund. Also notably, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” at No. 5 on the Hot 100 after a record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1, rewrites the longest reign ever on the Radio Songs chart – 27 weeks – breaking out of a tie with The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights.” “4X4,” on Cactus Jack/Epic Records, totaled 16.2 million official streams, 2.9 million radio airplay audience impressions and 167,000 sold (digital and physical singles combined) in the United States Jan. 24-30. The track is the 1,178th No. 1 in the Hot 100’s 66-year history and the 82nd single to debut in the top spot. “4×4” concurrently launches at No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same methodology as the Hot 100. It’s Scott’s seventh leader on each genre ranking. Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” slips 4-5 on the Hot 100, following a record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1 beginning last July. The track also tops Radio Songs for a 27th week (63.3 million in audience, on par with last week’s total) – surpassing The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” for the most weeks at No. 1 in the airplay chart’s 34-year history. Here’s an updated rundown of the longest-leading Radio Songs No. 1s: 27 weeks, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, beginning Aug. 10, 2024 26, “Blinding Lights,” The Weeknd, April 18, 2020 18, “Flowers,” Miley Cyrus, Feb. 25, 2023 18, “Iris,” Goo Goo Dolls, Aug. 1, 1998 16, “Girls Like You,” Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B, Aug. 4, 2018 16, “We Belong Together,” Mariah Carey, May 28, 2005 16, “Don’t Speak,” No Doubt, Dec. 7, 1996 15, “Easy On Me,” Adele, Dec. 4, 2021 14, “High Hopes,” Panic! at the Disco, Dec. 1, 2018 14, “No One,” Alicia Keys, Nov. 3, 2007 14, “Because You Loved Me,” Celine Dion, April 13, 1996 “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” led the Country Airplay chart for seven weeks beginning last August, the longest No. 1 run for an initial entry, and ranks in the top 10 for a record-extending 31st week. The song also became the first to hit the top five (or even top 10) on Country Airplay, Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay (two weeks at No. 1 on each chart) and Rhythmic Airplay (No. 3 peak). “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” leads the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for a 33rd week. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” dips to No. 2 on the Hot 100 after four weeks at No. 1. It rebounds for a third week atop the Streaming Songs chart (27.7 million, down 1%). ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” holds at its No. 3 Hot 100 high and Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” lifts 5-4, after reaching No. 3. Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024 – and became the year’s top song – rises 7-6. It loges a 76th week on the survey, tying for the sixth-longest stay in the chart’s history. Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” descends 6-7 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 2. It leads the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a 26th week each. Bad Bunny “DtMF” drops to No. 8 on the Hot 100 from its No. 2 best. It spends a third week atop the multimetric Hot Latin Songs chart. Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Gracie Abrams’ “That’s So True” backtracks 8-9, after reaching No. 6, and Morgan Wallen’s “Love Somebody” keeps at No. 10, after it debuted and spent a week at No. 1 in November.
February 6Feb 6 HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 4.02.25 #19 THE TOP TEN: Morgan stays put at 10 with 'Love Somebody,' and Gracie falls a spot to 9 with 'That's So True.' Bad Bunny's 'DTMF' has a huge slide from 2 to 8, while 'Birds Of A Feather' has a small slip to 7. Jumping up to 6 is 'Lose Control' by Teddy Swims, while Shaboozey is right above him at 5 with 'A Bar Song (Tipsy).' Kendrick And SZA's collab keeps climbing at 4, 'APT.' spends its 15th charting week at 3 as Bruno Mars is also at 2 with 'Die With A Smile,' and taking the number one as a new entry, bagging his 5th number one single is Travis Scott's '4×4.' NEW ENTRIES: 100. Mutt - Leon Thomas (6/10) It reminds me of Tommy Richman, but without the voice changer or horrid vocals. This had the R&B essence and just had something really real about it. It's also the first time I've heard of Leon, so hopefully this is a good start for his career. It doesn't sound like a radio hit, so I expect it to not get too far, though. 97. Me Jalo - Fuerza Regida/Groupon Frontera (5/10) You really thought you could get away with putting in the same old Spanish trumpets and just the classic sound that every Billboard Hot 100 Spanish/Mexican song has! This sounds like anything else you'd ever hear! I guarantee there's no need to explain this track; if you've heard one of those types of tracks, then you've heard this, Bland and *ss. 85. Weren't For The Wind—Ella Langley (5.5/10) Your average country song, it'll fit finely on American country radio. This joined Langley's 2024 album and took months to finally gain traction, but here it is. Using classic country instrumentals, it delivers a natural and down-to-earth song. The problem to me is that this does nothing to steer itself away from being another bland country song, and that's something that Ella can't steer away from at all, really. 79. Backseat Driver—Kane Brown (6/10) Kane’s voice sounds completely manufactured in these country songs. You can tell because he didn’t sound like this on Miles on It, right? Exactly. I get adjusting your tone to fit a song’s style, but this feels like an act. The song itself is solid and doesn’t rely too much on country clichés, which is a relief, but it really doesn’t deserve to blow up. 73. Blue Jean Baby—Zach Bryan (7.5/10) The first thing from Zach that I can actually say is really good; everything felt so natural, and for once Zach doesn't bore us with a song as bland as a marshmallow, true American country here, and I'm ready to let those guitar and drums with the bar-like sound go crazy! 58. Haunted—Kane Brown/Jelly Roll (7/10) It's a rare sighting for me to rate these two artists this high, but this is an exception. The vocals were a powerhouse, and so were the lyrical values, covering depression and suicide. Amazing song from the two, and I hope to see more like this! 21. Sports Car—Tate McRae (9/10) Tate McRae was mad not to make this the main single!! OH MY WORD, I AM IN SHOCK!! THIS IS EXCELLENT! The mysterious yet intense quality of the song was just layered perfectly, and Tate's vocal performance was out of this world! We haven't seen anything like this from McRae, and 'Sports Car' is a huge win! 17. Fat Juicy & Wet—Sexy Red/Bruno Mars (4/10) This is the weirdest collab I've ever seen in my life, and I'm left speechless by it. I did not expect to see Bruno talking about how he likes his women. Fat, juicy, and wet—what even is this?! I'm convinced that this has ruined Bruno's song collection; this really sounds like rap crap, though, and anyone who says it's good is most likely glazing it for having Bruno on it. I'll be shocked if this has long-term charting potential. And also EWWWWW, THE LYRICS ARE GROSS!! I can't believe Bruno reached out to do this 😭. If this really is on his next album, then it'll ruin it; it's like they tried to recreate 'WAP' with the harder trap kick in there to fire up the song and the claps between the vocals. I can also hear a hint of old-school production with short segments having a 2000s-like melody playing. 1. 4×4—Travis Scott (4/10) Previous listen: Below standard, just like every other Travis song I've heard. Added: Yeah, rap crap again on my second listen. I can't believe someone rocks out to a guy who does autotuned moans at his concert; there's really nothing more to say about this. This is going to take a huge number one fall next week. RE ENTRIES: 93. Holy Smokes—Bailey Zimmerman [This back again??] 40.
