February 12Feb 12 Author Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars’ ‘Die With a Smile’ Rebounds for Fifth Week at No. 1 on Hot 100 By Gary Trust | 2/10/2025 Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” rebounds a spot to No. 1 for a fifth total week atop the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The ballad became Gaga’s sixth Hot 100 leader and Mars’ ninth. Gaga moves to within one week of tying her longest No. 1 stay – she dominated for six weeks in 2011 with “Born This Way.” Mars logs his third reign of five or more weeks. “Die With a Smile” also ascends to its first week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart, marking Gaga’s third leader – and first since “Born This Way” – and Mars’ milestone 10th. Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” launches at No. 2 on the Hot 100, as well as No. 1 on the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts. The track becomes the country star’s 13th Hot 100 top 10. Plus, multiple songs, including “Die With a Smile,” gain in the Hot 100’s top 10 following exposure on the 67th Annual Grammy Awards Feb. 2. “Die With a Smile,” on Streamline/Interscope/Atlantic/ICLG, totaled 62.5 million radio airplay audience impressions (essentially even week-over-week), 28.6 million official streams (up 3%) and 10,000 sold (up 96%) in the United States Jan. 31-Feb. 6. The ballad won the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance, while Gaga and Mars performed a cover of the Mamas & the Papas’ “California Dreamin’ ” as a tribute to Los Angeles during the Grammys. “Die With a Smile” rises 2-1 for its first week atop Radio Songs; dips to No. 2 after three weeks leading Streaming Songs; and keeps at No. 4 on Digital Song Sales, which it led for two weeks. Gaga claims her third Radio Songs leader – and first since “Born This Way,” which led for a week in April 2011. Before that, “Paparazzi” spent a week on top in November 2009. She sets two records in her return to No. 1 on the chart: She ends the longest gap between time on top (13 years, 10 months and two weeks) and now boasts the longest span of leading the list (15 years, two months and three weeks; Chris Brown previously held both marks). Mars earns his 10th Radio Songs No. 1, the third-most since the chart began in December 1990. Rihanna leads with 13, followed by Mariah Carey with 11. “Die With a Smile” halts the record 27-week Radio Songs reign of Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)." Morgan Wallen’s “I’m the Problem” debuts at No. 2 on the Hot 100, becoming his 13th top 10. Released Jan. 31, it drew 29.2 million streams, 11.6 million in airplay audience and 15,000 sold in its first week. It opens as his fourth No. 1 on Streaming Songs and his ninth on Digital Song Sales. It also soars in as his 10th No. 1 on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart. “I’m the Problem” is the title track to Wallen’s forthcoming fourth studio album, as well as the name of his tour set to kick off June 20. Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” lifts 4-3 on the Hot 100, returning to its best rank first reached upon its December debut. It concurrently rebounds for an eighth week at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same methodology as the Hot 100. Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” flocks 7-4 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 2. It leads the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a 27th week each. She sang the song as the second performance during the Grammys, spurring its 30% surge to 19.2 million streams and 219% blast to 8,000 sold in the week ending Feb. 6. Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” keeps at No. 5 on the Hot 100, following a record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1 beginning last July. It gained by 8% to 17.9 million streams and 118% to 9,000 sold in the tracking week, after he performed it as part of a medley by best new artist Grammy nominees. ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” drops to No. 6 from its No. 3 Hot 100 high. The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s “Timeless” vaults 18-7 on the Hot 100, after it debuted at its No. 3 best in October. It increased by 51% to 20.3 million streams in the tracking week after the pair performed it in a mix with The Weeknd’s “Cry for Me”; both songs are from his new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, which debuts as his fifth No. 1 on the Billboard 200. “Timeless” also tops the multimetric Hot R&B Songs chart for a 17th week. Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024 – and became the year’s top song – dips 6-8. It logs a 77th week on the list, tying for the fifth-longest stay in the chart’s history. (It also matches Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” for the most weeks ever spent on the chart for a song on Warner Records.) Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” backflips 15-9 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2. It bounded by 29% to 16 million streams and 515% to 14,000 sold in the tracking week, after he, like Shaboozey, contributed to the medley by best new artist Grammy nominees. Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Lamar’s “TV Off,” featuring Lefty Gunplay, rises 11-10 after it debuted at its No. 2 best in December.
February 12Feb 12 US HOT 100 REVIEW 11.02.25 #20 TOP TEN: Kendrick and Left Gunplay's 'TV Off' returns to the top ten, and so does Benson Boone with 'Beautiful Things' at 9. 'Lose Control' sees Teddy hit 8 as The Weeknd's new album has 'Timeless' go up from 18 to 7. At 6, ROSÉ and Bruno's 'APT.' declines as Shaboozey is just above them at 5. 'Birds Of A Feather' is up to 4 for Billie Eilish, and 'Luther' also climbs to 3. Morgan Wallen's new entry, 'I'm The Problem,' just misses the top spot at 2, and Lady Gaga (with Bruno Mars) manages to repeat at 1 for their 5th week with 'Die With A Smile.' NEW ENTRY: 96. Love Hangover—JENNIE/Dominic Fike (3.5/10) This sounded like a tragic mess. I don't even know what to make of this. I would recommend giving this song to Disney so they can throw it in a cheap movie because this is trash. 92. Nissan Altima—Doechii (8/10) It's really giving the assertive, dominant attitude that we love from Doechii. Not only does this have the ability to go trending, but it's also a unique rap that you only tend to hear from Doechii. Keep it up! 84. 7 Dias - Gabito Ballesteros/Tito Double P (4.5/10) The emotion in this wasn't conveyed well enough to really get across the heartbreak, and they used the same layout, copy, and pasted that all the other Spanish songs use, with the trumpets. '7 Dias' shows no step to further boost any of the artists and doesn't remain memorable in my books. 82. I Can't Wait To Get There—The Weeknd (6/10) It starts off nice, simple, and slow before moving into more juicier R&B chords. It's alright and a decent song that fits well; it just feels like The Weeknd could've given more energy to the song. 74. Opening Night (3/10) So many random noises that feel misplaced and just there for no reason; what even is this? 71. Gven Up On Me (7.3/10) Now this is better! The synths heightened energy with claps that blend into a whirlwind of a flavourful production. This is more than experimental; this is genius. It also caught the emotional aspects of the music well too! 69. Take Me Back to LA (6.5/10) This gave late-night driving and felt like the pop elements flowed through more; I just wish the start was more consistent instead of the unsteady verses. 68. The Abyss Ft. Lana Del Rey (6.5/10) It felt like a completion to a long story, and Lana's vocals were elegant and holded fabulously! 🎀☺️ 65. Niagara Falls (5.5/10) It's nothing special from the rest I've seen. I don't know if it's just me, but this is kind of boring. It has effort, and I can see the clean production changes, but it just doesn't click for me. 60. Enjoy The Show (4/10) The lyrics to this were crazy; The Weeknd claimed he isn't going to make it past 34, which, if true, means he's going to die within the next twelve days. He also speaks about overdosing and more. To the vocals, Future was a terrible choice; he sounded like Rod Wave on 'Last Lap,' and the whole song just felt sluggish and slow. I wanted it to end; it doesn't capture any moment apart from the sad thought of depression. 53. Reflections Laughing Ft. Florence + the Machine and Travis Scott (3/10) These three do not go well together or have any chemistry; there was nothing to take from this, and every artist here is not giving their full. I don't even get why having Scott's autotuned plop of a verse was put on this. 48. Open Hearts (8/10) This went down perfectly with the music video; it felt like an easy pop record to get a smash Billboard hit, but I respect The Weeknd's choice to take bolder moves with experimental music to give a new atmosphere. This was a great track and gave a nostalgic feel despite there being nothing nostalgic in the track. 46. Baptised In Fear (6.5/10) The synthesiser did a great job! The beat was simple but a good follow-up; shame it didn't live up to a bigger extent; it felt like it needed more to it. 45. Wake Me Up Ft. Justice (9/10) Amazing album intro; it captured The Weeknd's character really well and marked a legendary start to 'Hurry Up Tomorrow.' The merge into a 'Thriller'-like beat is super clean and smooth but felt similar to the original 'Thriller,' and if it was sampled, then samples are kind of lazy, which stops it from deserving a 10. But still, the whole song felt flawless in its production and gave a booming opening to what I hope is an amazing album! 29. Abracadabra—Lady Gaga (8/10) Seeing Gaga's upcoming album has songs called 'Garden Of Eden' and 'The Beast,' and seeing the song references the devil in a more darker setting, I wouldn't be surprised if she was going to pull another 'Judas' moment. But you know I'm not biased and only rate off the actual song, so it's actually very catchy and grew a lot from the first listen. It's a pump of electronic energy that reminds me of Gaga's older era of dance music and brings back her style in a jam-packed party bop that concerns finding the magic through the challenges. It's a pleasing song and sets a high standard for the rest of 'MAYHEM.' 12. Cry For Me (7/10) Previous listen: Every single release pushed on "Hurry Up Tomorrow" feels so different from the last that I have no idea how The Weeknd's going to pull this album off. In the short term, this was an enjoyable song; it felt dark and gave a pop-R&B entrance, which was appealing and felt intriguing to the upcoming songs, although this wasn't the best thing I've heard and felt it could've done with a catchier hook. It definitely wasn't a disappointment for my expectations. Added: Listening to this with track one really built a moment much more and made me like this track more. 2. I'm The Problem—Morgan Wallen (6/10) Classic Morgan, he makes a hit, then a flop, and repeats the process. This is good, but it's not good enough for hit status. It follows the classic guitar-bar song with Morgan's reflective lyrics. I just wish this had more of a catch that begs for a replay. I'm not asking for a radio hit, just something that has a new feeling. RE ENTRIES: 100. Worst Way—Riley Green [it's OK... 5.5 on my second listen.] 43. Sao Paulo—The Weeknd/Anitta [Very bad] 41.
