Hopefully a lot of the new entries will fall down and she’ll creep back into the top 15-20. I do wonder if her performance in Brazil will have any viral effect over here? Highly doubt it

It doesn't do any harm I suppose but wouldn't count on it giving a significant boost. Maybe 500 sales or so.

MAYHEM has stayed in the UK Top 10 for a 6th week now. It’s #10 this week but was #16 in Mondays midweek update so a rise since then! It’s now matched Chromatica weeks wise in the UK top ten albums!

Mayhem will definitely have more staying power than Cowboy Carter, at least in the UK. The latter has got only 9 weeks in top 40.

I think we just need a new single push that’s all we need!

It’s a shame the Spotify boost isn’t really doing much UK wise for MAYHEM (The Fame is rising however!) but saying that unless it was to be televised the general person in the UK wouldnt know about the historic Brazil show.

But yeah it’s probably so close to being top 20 as well but we’ll see what’s to come for the era. The UK tour is this year at least so if nothing else we should get a boost then. I think once Singapore shows are done we may get a new single / video. I think she’s in performance mode at the moment and is getting the promotional shows done and dusted first.

The thing is now globally speaking Abracadabra is on the rise again so there may be some life in that yet.

The problem is, that it doesn't matter how many streams DWAS and Abra get, their streams are down-weighted in line with the average of the rest. So the crucial songs are the 3rd and 4th most popular that actually can increase the streams of the whole album. There are two ways to tackle this: a totally new song or a viral hit from the album tracks. Sure, touring will also help but by the time she arrives in the UK, the album is probably out of top 75 at least.

I think these rules are ridiculous because a ) they help the greatest hits album to be in top ten all time and b ) it is not reasonable to expect that even big stars always get three simultanious hits from each album (see: Bey, Dua, even Kendrick with their most recent ones).

I'd rather see Mayhem in top ten than The Fame in top 40 tbh.

Mayhem is #11 in the US which is more reflective of the popularity I'd say, even though Abra isn't doing as well there as it is in the UK but there its streams actually count.

I’ve always found it insane that the OCC removed soundtrack albums from the chart because they were hanging around too long but are allowing Greatest Hits albums to clog the Top 40. 1/3 of the entire Top 40 is Greatest Hits albums - they should be moved to the compilation chart. The Highlights by The Weeknd has spent 3 years in the Top 10 and will probably never leave the Top 40, same with Ed Sheeran’s compilation album.

The weighting rule is nice in theory but it’s also unlike the rest of the world and clearly doesn’t work that well in practice. It’s almost impossible for albums to go platinum nowadays unless they’re mega smash albums - platinum shouldn’t be completely unachievable as it is now.

Agree 100%. We can take a look at the US where there is no such restrictions, and oops, ZERO greatest hits albums in top ten, because there all songs count. The downside is, that the 30-track mammoth playlists dominate the chart to some extent (Morgan, SZA) so I guess the best formula would be somewhere in the middle ground.. Like 12 most streamed tracks would count or sth.

UK chart also bizarrely double-count the songs to the GHs and studio albums which means that Oasis have three albums constantly charting where in fact they should have only the GH there.

Something is wrong when artists don't get rewarded when they have 1-2 hits from the album but get a free pass to top ten when they have 3 or 4.

UK #21 this week a rise from last week and up from where it was in the mids too!

MAYHEM now spending more weeks top 40 than Joanne as it gets a 9th week!

Edited by Jordanlee1402

I think the drop might look worse than it is like by units I think it’s probably really tight between #21 and #40!

Last week as well it was #27 on the first update of the week and it ended up at #21 by the official chart so we could see an improvement as the week goes on. The chart run up to now isn’t too different from Chromaticas!

It's sad but that's how it goes today in the UK... Hope it can reach top 20 on YE chart. It's #10 now so it's definitely possible. Can't see anything else besides Oasis and upcoming Taylor release storming into top ten at this point of the year.
