Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s ‘Luther’ No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 for Third Week
By Gary Trust | 3/10/2025

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” leads the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for a third week. Two weeks earlier, the single – whose title is an ode to late R&B icon Luther Vandross, who is sampled on the track – became Lamar’s sixth No. 1 and SZA’s third.

Lamar ties his longest Hot 100 domination. He previously reigned for three nonconsecutive weeks with “Not Like Us” between last May and this February, and for three weeks in a row last April with “Like That,” with Future and Metro Boomin. His other No. 1s ruled for a week each: “Squabble Up,” in December; “Humble.,” in 2017; and Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” on which he’s featured, in 2015.

SZA extends her longest No. 1 Hot 100 stay. She previously led for a week each as featured on Drake’s “Slime You Out” and with her own “Kill Bill,” both in 2023.
Also in the Hot 100’s top 10, Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” holds at its No. 8 high, as it becomes her first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart.

“Luther,” on pgLang/Interscope/ICLG, totaled 53.9 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 6% week-over-week), 34.2 million official streams (down 12%) and 3,000 sold (down 14%) in the U.S. Feb. 28-March 6.

The track adds a third week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart; holds at its No. 3 high on Radio Songs; and rebounds 12-8, after reaching No. 4, on Digital Song Sales.

“Luther” is No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Adult R&B Airplay charts for a second week each. It became the first song ever to rule both Adult R&B Airplay and Rap Airplay, having topped the latter list two weeks ago. The track has also hit No. 1 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Rhythmic Airplay rankings.

“Luther” concurrently collects an 11th week at No. 1 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same methodology as the Hot 100. The song became Lamar’s seventh No. 1 on each genre chart and SZA’s fourth and first on the respective lists.

Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” holds at its No. 8 Hot 100 high – and soars 5-1 on Digital Song Sales (6,000, up 4%). It’s the singer-songwriter’s first leader on the latter chart. She previously hit the Digital Song Sales top 10 with “Good Luck, Babe!” (No. 6, October).

The top nine tracks on the Hot 100 remain in place from a week earlier. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” ranks at No. 2, following five nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in January. It notches a fifth week atop Radio Songs (64.7 million, up 2%).

Below “Luther,” Lamar logs two other songs in the Hot 100’s top five: “Not Like Us,” at No. 3, and “TV Off,” featuring Lefty Gunplay, at No. 4, after reaching No. 2.

Notably, Lamar lands his fifth week with at least three songs in the Hot 100’s top five simultaneously, after he first scored such a triple in December. He ties for the third-most such frames – here’s a recap of all acts who have achieved the feat for at least one week.

Most Weeks With 3 or More Songs in Hot 100’s Top 5:

  • 8 weeks, The Beatles, in 1964

  • 6, Drake, 2018-23

  • 5, Justin Bieber, 2015-16

  • 5, Kendrick Lamar, 2024-25

  • 3, Taylor Swift, 2022-24

  • 2, 50 Cent, 2005

  • 2, Sabrina Carpenter, 2024

  • 1, 21 Savage, 2022

  • 1, Ariana Grande, 2019

(Swift – twice – Lamar, Drake and The Beatles are the only acts ever to monopolize the entire top five on the Hot 100 in a single week. Swift scored the most songs from No. 1 on down – 14 – on the May 4, 2024, chart, thanks to the arrival of her album The Tortured Poets Department.)

Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” ranks at No. 5 on the Hot 100, following its record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1 beginning last July. It commands the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for a 37th week.

ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” places at No. 6 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 3.

Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” is No. 7 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2. It tops the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a 31st week each. On the latter, it extends the longest reign for a song by a woman; on the former, it solely claims the mark, one-upping Zach Bryan’s “I Remember Everything,” featuring Kacey Musgraves, which led for 30 weeks in 2023-24.

Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024 – and became the year’s top song – ranks at No. 9. It notches an 81st week on the survey overall, the fourth-longest stay in the chart’s history, below only Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” (91 weeks, in 2021-22); The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (90 weeks, 2019-22); and Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” (87 weeks, 2012-14).

Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Drake’s “Nokia” returns to the region, rising a spot to No. 10, where it debuted two weeks earlier.

US HOT 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 11.03.25 #23

THE TOP TEN:

Drake is repeating at ten with 'Nokia,' which is just below 'Lose Control' at 9. 'Pink Pony Club' is still at 8, 'Birds Of A Feather' is still at 7, and 'APT.' is still at 6. 'A Bar Song' spends its 47th charting week at 5 as 'TV Off' spends its 15th charting week at 4. 'Not Like Us' is another top ten entry for Kendrick at 3, and 'Die With A Smile' sticks at 2 for another week. But taking number one for its 3rd week in a row is 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

NEW ENTRIES:

85. TATTOO - Tito Double P (5/10)

Has Tito Double P made anything that's slightly different from his previous songs? No. Is it worth your time? No. That's enough questions, NEXT!

56. Mrs. Whitman - Bhad Bharbie (1/10)

How about we don't promote this and not let it go YouTube trending number one? Flipping heck, female rappers really have to push the exact same message as each other, and they still chart! We had Ceechynaa, Sexxy Red, and more on the chart; we don't need another mindless fool messing up the chart. We really had to start the song with the same intro from Kanye West's 'Carnival.' I did not want to be reminded of that song in 2025 or even Kanye as a person, and then Bhad Bhabie starts rapping, and wow… she's awful, she's worse than Ice Spice, she's not saying anything meaningful and instead piling dirt upon dirt with a flow that sounds like she's an amateur trying to copy some rap TikTok trend. And what even is that artist's name? Bhad bhabie?! I'm going to do everything in my willpower to not give this song any more attention; let's hope it falls out next week.

45. Anxiety—Sleeping Hallow/Doechii (8/10)

And now the famous segment we all know and love is in a song, and Doechii nailed this too! The rest of the song kept the same level of sound, which I really enjoyed, and her vocals were soft and smooth, which was relaxing despite what she was rapping about. In the end, Anxiety sounds like it could be going places; social media should really pick this up!

44. Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else—Benson Boone (5.5/10)

Rare Benson Boone L. As Benson was one of my most streamed artists ever and 95% of the time creates something I enjoy, I was very much excited (to say the least) about this upcoming new era, and the opening single will set the tone for how I'm going to feel. To keep it short and real, Benson played it safe and did exactly what he's been doing before but even worse, and the lyrics feel like they took a downgrade. The lyrics are like a page out of someone's diary about some cringe interaction with a waitress serving fries. Come on, Benson, what is this?? Is it due to the industry's high demand of quickly pushing out singles because this feels rushed and so damn boring that there's no room to have any new ideas of what Benson may be doing in the future with his music, move on, make something new, or at least up to quality like your previous hit singles?

Lady Gaga and JENNIE'S new album will give them a boost in the charts; maybe 'Die With A Smile' will go back to number one or 'Abracadabra' could possibly go top ten.

21 hours ago, Cody Buckley said:

at this point idc if Drake's streaming figures go up, I just want Lose Control out of the top 10 😅

At this rate Jesus will come back before Lose Control leaves the top ten.
