Posted January 13, 201213 yr Y1xs_xPb46M Probably my favourite video and single they've done so far. :D
January 13, 201213 yr LOVE the video. It just seems like a big bundle of fun and having the fans in it was nice. Excellent single choice too, one of my favourites from the album and hopefully it'll correct the mistake that was 'Gotta Be You' (which I've come round to love). A week until I see them live too. :D
January 13, 201213 yr Good single choice i'd say, i'm sure another top 10 hit, maybe higher, top 5? I like how their label has differentiated them from both The Wanted & JLS, because all 3 groups are different, sound and look wise.
January 13, 201213 yr Unexpectedly love it. Best song yet and definitely their best video. So many groups look absolutely miserable in their videos in an effort to look moody and cool but this group just seem to be having so much fun and it shows. Is that The Inbetweeners dance they do in the video?
January 14, 201213 yr They're so cute  And Louis and Zayn are so damn hot now  It makes me kinda like the music, although it's incredibly cheap.
January 14, 201213 yr A week until I see them live too. :D 2 weeks here, I can't say I'm overly excited about the SHOW given their vocal *ahem* abilities, but yeah being in the same room as LA STYLES will be worthwhile in itself *.* *transforms into 13 y/o screaming girl*
January 19, 201213 yr They're definitely the best boyband around currently, One Thing is their second FANTASTIC single out of three releases, I could definitely see them taking off in a big way in the US.
January 19, 201213 yr If The Wanted can make it in the US (#85 so far with GYC) then I should think One Direction certainly could with the right promo especially as they've already gone top 5 in Australia & New Zealand and had a #1 album in Sweden.
January 19, 201213 yr Yeah, 1D are/will be marketed much better than The Wanted. Plus there's the Cowell factor, no doubt he'll pull some strings to get them some high profile appearances, as well as appear in interviews praising them. I recall how he took Leona with him everywhere he went (E! TV, etc.) and promoted the hell out of her even before she'd started working on the 1st studio album.

You call making it in the US having your single peak at number 85?  HARDLY! Yes top 5 in Oz and NZ but the sales over there for single and album are not that impressive and the certification thresholds are much lower. Having a number 1 album in Sweden probably meant them selling 4 or 5 thousand copies. Again not world beating potential is it. Yeah, 1D are/will be marketed much better than The Wanted. Definately they will be marketed better as Simon knows what it takes over there. They will probably end up on the US XF next year..although that didnt help Tinie Tempah when he performed over there. Bottom line is that although 1D may have potential they are not as good as The Wanted, JLS or even groups like Blue as they only have a single number 1 single to their name and sales for their album, singles, merchandise etc etc not even reaching 1 million They may be good in the future but they need to be careful. There seems to be alot of free spirit in that group and it could all work against them, just look at Take That. They were selling millions worldwide, had just broken through into America and then Robbie left. 1D should learn the lessons as none of them are good enough to go alone and if they choose America over the UK then they may just find that their popularity over here wanes as US style of music is completely different to the music we make over here.

One Direction have been around for a shorter amount of time than The Wanted and JLS, who have released many more singles. And I'm sure their sales aren't bad in the slightest. Both WMYB and the album have held out quite well in the charts.
February 1, 201213 yr You call making it in the US having your single peak at number 85?  HARDLY! But it hasn't peaked at number 85?! Notice how I used the phrase "SO FAR". As it'll happen it's actually peaked higher now and should make top 40 tomorrow with it already being top 25 on iTunes and still going and airplay is increasing everyday. It has a good chance of going top 10 eventually and then they'll have 'made it' with that single so maybe you ought to check this stuff out before making comments like that..
February 2, 201213 yr Rubbish. One Direction have been around for a shorter amount of time than The Wanted and JLS, who have released many more singles. And I'm sure their sales aren't bad in the slightest. Both WMYB and the album have held out quite well in the charts. 1D have sold less than jls and the wanted and have had less chart success. So no it is not rubbish you are in denial if you think otherwise. But it hasn't peaked at number 85?! Notice how I used the phrase "SO FAR". As it'll happen it's actually peaked higher now and should make top 40 tomorrow with it already being top 25 on iTunes and still going and airplay is increasing everyday. Ok so you would count getting 1 single charting in the US as an indication that they have broken the market? Wow. When they have an album charting highly and more than 1 single charting over there then you can tell me im wrong. At the moment, i am not
February 2, 201213 yr When did I say that getting one charting single shows that they have 'broken the market'? I never said that. But as it'll happen the single has climbed to #40 officially today so they are having SOME SUCCESS. On another note, 'What Makes You Beautiful' has sold more than any single that The Wanted have released in total and 'Up All Night' has sold more than The Wanted's debut as well. JLS however have sold more than One Direction (especially looking at first album sales).

JLS however have sold more than One Direction (especially looking at first album sales). I quote 'The Wanted can make it in the US (#85 so far with GYC)' <<< There is where you said it. Im not disputing that The Wanted are better musically than 1D cos they're not, i dont like The Wanted's music, but they have sold more records and released more material than 1D and so are more successful than them at the moment. JLS are a different kettle of fish altogether. The majority of their singles save 1 or 2 have been awful but they have the teen girl fanbase in their hands so it doesnt matter about the quality so they release albums, singles etc all the time. Saying that it finally looks like people have woken up as their single sales are down and their album hasnt sold as well as their others. I hope 1D follow Coldplay and Take That's example and release music every couple of years rather than every month as I think long term it will pay off and the demand across the world will be there.
February 4, 201213 yr Of course The Wanted are going to have sold more in total because they have released more material but One Direction's first album/era has been more successful than The Wanted's, sales prove it. Though it's not quite fair to compare them as One Direction obviously have the advantage (if you can call it that) of coming from The X Factor. I didn't mean it as in "The Wanted have properly made in America", more that if The Wanted can get as high as #85 in America than I think One Direction could get as high as say, #80. Just slightly better than whatever The Wanted manage. Just so it's clear, I am a big fan of both bands, but I believe One Direction could be bigger/more successful in the US and in the UK in the longrun if they aren't already. One Direction will probably follow the JLS example of releasing an album per year, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that as long as the material is actually good. The fans are young, they're young, the record companies want to make the most of them whilst they can. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they're still successful in 20 years like Take That are now.
February 4, 201213 yr I actually think it's just me that thinks Gotta Be You is infinitely better than WMYB or OT. Ah well...
