Little Mix accounts as well as One Direction keep posting links to iTunes encouraging their own fans to buy the song. Think their Management team are behind it.

The Hozier song really is superb and I hope becomes a huge hit. 5SOS falling already was to be expected really.

I hate that 5sos song. One Direction have been pimping them for weeks on Twitter and encouraging fans to buy the song. Anything but them for #1 this week.

Really pleased to see Sam Smith at #1 and I love the chorus too.

I would say yes too. The Vamps are one of the worst offenders at the moment. It really clutters up the chart and fans can feel pressured into buying every version with encouragement from the band themselves tweeting all the time to make sure they buy every different version. I would limit it to 3 versions maximum.

Really loving the Neon Jungle song. Hope it charts high than the Vamps one with all their multiple versions.

To get them an inflated chart position? Poor fans end up having to pay more money to get all versions. Their Twitter site has gone into overdrive promoting them all. Hopefully it wont work.

Love all three of those songs. Midnight Memories is a really good choice but I think Happily would have been a better one. That song would smash.

1D are doing extremely well to be still selling well after five weeks compared to some of their previous singles. Glad to see it do so well as it is one of their best. Love both the Leona and Kelly Christmas songs and hope both do well. Heart radio has played the Kelly one today.

At last some great album sales this week.

Not really getting into a debate about the virtues or not of One Direction but Cowell actually has nothing to do with them now and two of them - Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have co-written most of the tracks on the album. Think some might be shocked at how good a few are. Many of the more 'snobby' music critics have given huge praise to the song Little Black Dress for instance which is unlike anything you expect to hear from the group.

Gary Barlow is certainly putting up a good fight. Multiple record signings, radio interviews and television appearances this week. With him appearing on the Royal Variety Show this year and a concert featuring him being shown over the New Year on television his sales should stay consistent over Xmas.

Billboard and LA Times critics have given the album near rave reviews with LA Times calling it the most convincing Rock album of the year! :o

Huge sales for 1D and its actually a good album with lots of potential hits though many places are sold out already which might affect sales for next few days. Really good sales for Gary Barlow too. Promotion with those meerkats during X Factor and Corrie seems to be working and he is doing record signings each day too.

Unashamedly love the Midnight Memories song. Its like a huge 80's stadium Rock anthem.
