Posted January 17, 200718 yr MY ALBUM STORY by Brandon Flowers, The Killers THE SMITHS - LOUDER THAN BOMBS "This album had the biggest impact on me. I was living in a small town in Utah and kids my age were into Korn and Tool, but I was on the other end of the spectrum. I didn't feel better than them, it was just nice to have something of my own. Years later I actually went with Dave (Keuning) to the Salford Lads Club and took pictures. We played a gig at Manchester Academy, and across the street is the same church which Morrissey sings about in 'Vicar In A Tutu'. Even driving by the cemetery, I was thinking 'Is that the cemetery he was talking about?' You walk down the streets and you can almost hear the songs coming to life. This album's got my favourite Smiths song ever on it: 'You Just Haven't Earned It Yet Baby'. People underestimated how much The Smiths rocked and this is one of my first rock songs. It also had my second favourite song, 'Stretch Out And Wait', which there was something so sexual about for a teenage boy. The Smiths did so much in such a short time. They balanced this sense of humour with an element of seriousness perfectly. With Johnny Marr on guitar and Andy Rourke on Bass you couldn't lose. And Morrissey's voice is the closest thing we've ever had to Elvis." --- This too, is my favourite Smiths Album
January 17, 200718 yr Well judging by that this could be my next purchase  (or I could nick it off one of my brothers if I go home this weekend :P ) I only have the best of and The Queen Is Dead.
January 18, 200718 yr a bit of a cop-out him naming Louder Than Bombs as his fave Smiths album - all it is is a (admittedly fantastic) collection of old tracks, singles, rarities... the only Smiths albums as such were the Smiths, Meat is Murder, Queen is Dead and Strangeways... the others were compilations.
