April 9Apr 9 Author Kendrick Lamar & SZA’s ‘Luther’ Leads Hot 100 for Seventh Week, Tops Radio Songs ChartBy Gary Trust | 4/7/2025Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” tops the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for a seventh total and consecutive week. The single, whose title shouts out late R&B crooner Luther Vandross, who is sampled on the track, became Lamar’s sixth No. 1 and SZA’s third. Lamar and SZA each extend their longest career Hot 100 reigns with the song.Meanwhile, “Luther” links the longest Hot 100 command for a rap hit in more than four years, since 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” featuring iann dior, led for eight weeks in 2020-21. The only longer domination for a rap hit this decade: 11 weeks, for Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” in 2020. (Rap titles are defined as those that have hit or are eligible for Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart.)Additionally, “Luther” ascends to the top of the Radio Songs chart, becoming Lamar’s third No. 1 – and first in a lead role – and SZA’s second on the all-format airplay ranking.Plus, Drake’s “Nokia” bounds 7-3 on the Hot 100 following the March 31 premiere of its official video. He rings up his record-extending 42nd top five hit (and record-padding 31st top three hit).“Luther,” on pgLang/Interscope/ICLG, totaled 61 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 5% week-over-week), 24.4 million official streams (down 7%) and 2,000 sold (down 13%) in the U.S. March 28-April 3.The collaboration rises a spot to the top of the Radio Songs chart, marking Lamar’s third No. 1, and first in a lead role, and SZA’s second. Lamar previously led as featured on Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” (for five weeks beginning in July 2015) and Maroon 5’s “Don’t Wanna Know” (for eight weeks starting in December 2016). SZA’s “Snooze” spent three weeks at No. 1 in October 2023.“Luther” concurrently holds for a sixth week atop Streaming Songs and dips 15-21, after reaching No. 4, on Digital Song Sales. “Luther” is the first hit to top Radio Songs and Streaming Songs simultaneously this year; Shaboozey last accomplished the feat with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” last October (when it tripled up, also leading Digital Song Sales).Meanwhile, “Luther” makes for a win among rap hits atop Radio Songs, becoming an increasingly rare track to have hit No. 1 on both Radio Songs and Hot Rap Songs. Thirty titles topped both charts in the 2000s; eight did so in the ’10s; and six have so far in the ‘20s. The previous five this decade: Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me” (2023-24); Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red” (2023); Harlow’s “First Class” (2022); Latto’s “Big Energy” (2022); and 24kGoldn’s “Mood” (2020-21).“Luther” concurrently adds a 15th week at No. 1 on both the multimetric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.Drake flips “Nokia” from No. 7 to a new No. 3 high on the Hot 100. It drew 21.5 million streams, up 11%, March 28-April 3, with its official video having premiered March 31. It’s also up 45% to 15.4 million in airplay audience and 54% to 6,000 sold. The track becomes Drake’s record-extending 42nd top five Hot 100 hit. Here’s a look at the acts with the most such entries over the chart’s 66-year history. Here’s a look at the acts with the most gold, silver and bronze medals combined. Most Top Three Hot 100 Hits:31, Drake26, The Beatles26, Taylor Swift25, Mariah Carey22, Madonna21, Rihanna19, Janet Jackson16, Michael Jackson15, Beyoncé15, Stevie WonderElsewhere in the Hot 100’s top 10, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” holds at No. 2, following five nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in January.Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” slips 3-4 on the Hot 100, following its record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1 beginning last July. It adds a milestone 40th week atop the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart (where only one hit has led longer: Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be”: 50 weeks in 2017-18).Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” keeps at its No. 5 Hot 100 best.Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024 – and became the year’s No. 1 song – repeats at No. 6. It notches an 85th week on the survey overall, the fourth-longest stay in the chart’s history, below only Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” (91 weeks, in 2021-22); The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (90 weeks, 2019-22); and Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” (87 weeks, 2012-14).ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ “APT.” ascends 10-7 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 3.Morgan Wallen boasts two songs in the Hot 100’s top 10, back-to-back: “Just in Case” drops to No. 8 a week after it debuted at No. 4 and “I’m the Problem” lifts 11-9, after it launched at its No. 2 best in February.Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” rises 12-10, after reaching No. 2. It tops the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts for a 35th week each.
April 10Apr 10 US HOT 100 8.04.25 #27 THE TOP TEN: Billie returns to the top ten with 'Birds Of A Feather' at 10, and so does Morgan Wallen with 'I'm The Problem' at 9. Morgan's second top ten song, 'Just In Case', slips to 8, which makes room for 'APT' to climb to 7. Teddy Swims spends his 85th charting week sticking at 6, and Chappell spends her 42nd charting week with 'Pink Pony Club' at 5. Shaboozey drops to 4 to make way for Drake's 'Nokia' climbing to 3. At 2, 'Die With A Smile' stays put for Gaga and Mars, which is just below 'Luther' by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, which sticks at number one for its 7th consecutive week. NEW ENTRIES: 96. Keep On Sippin' – Lil Durk (3/10) 94. Shaking When I Pray – Lil Durk (4/10) 93. Morena - Neton Vega/Peso Pluma (6.6/10) Ooooh, the trumpet and chords brought some spice to the song, and as much as I was expecting this to be average, seeing their past charting songs, this was actually a pleasant surprise. What needs to be improved here is the lyricism; it sounds like an old man trying to rizz up someone who's not even half their age. Definitely some of the worst lyrics I've heard that don't make you want to party. 91. Hometown Home – LOCASH (5/10) America is really addicted to making the most tedious and overused-sounding country songs chart on the Hot 100. It's the usual topics, mentioning Christianity while displaying a simple guitar and vocal overlap, which aims for a higher volume than lower volume production, but it ultimately fails. 90. Back To Friends – Sombr (7.5/10) Really enjoyable! Kinda reminds me of Keshi with the effects on the vocals and overall just the production choices. The slow-moving beat with the clear instrumentals along with the vocal effects just puts you in a trance state. I can't say it does this in the best way possible, but it definitely has some real meaning behind it. 84. Can't Hide It – Lil Durk/Jhene Aiko (4/10) 83. 1000 Times – Lil Durk/Lil Baby (2.3/10) 81. Love Me Not – Ravyn Lenae (5/10) I feel much more could've been done with this, but it keeps the fun, the pace, and the flow all at the minimum. More needs to be done to this because right now it sounds like a pop song on an album that everybody forgets about, and the vocals really don't help shape a better song either; they're boring. 72. They Want To Be You – Lil Durk/Future (4/10) 63. Vanish Mode – Lil Durk (2/10) Lil Durk was never a master of lyricism, but this is awful; definitely not listening to his new album. This guy is rap crap official. 59. Hampstead - Ariana Grande (7/10) 54. Warm – Ariana Grande (7/10) 53. Past Life – Ariana Grande (7/10) 38. Dandelion – Ariana Grande (7/10) 18. Twilight Zone - Ariana Grande (7/10) We have finally got the deluxe version of Eternal Sunshine, and with that comes this song. It sounds like a mix of 'The Boy Is Mine' and 'We Can't Be Friends', but something that doesn't equal the value of either. I mean, it's not bad, but it's not great. It would've totally fit on Eternal Sunshine, though. And this song has the lyrical value and the emotional value; Ariana has always been one artist with a signature style, and she balances herself out, but she does it especially well on this, and she takes it more easy while still sounding radio-friendly. Good song! RE-ENTRIES: 95. Fix What You Didn't Break – Nate Smith [I've already forgotton about this.] 86. Feel It – D4vd [Why is this trending again and a lot more? Not complaining. 42. Intro (End Of The World) – Ariana Grande [Great song!] NOTEABLE CHANGES: Songs that fell 10 or more spots: 99. Tattoo – Tito Double P (Down 17) 92. Tweaker - GELO (Down 20) 80. This Town's Been Too Good To Us – Dylan Scott (Down 10) 60. Call Me When You Break Up – Selena Gomez/Benny Blanco/Gracie Abrams (Down 14) 58. Smile – Morgan Wallen (Down 15) 50. Evil J0rdan – Playboi Carti (Down 23) [HIGHEST FALLER] 35. Rather Lie – Playboi Carti/The Weeknd (Down 10) 30. I'm A Little Crazy – Morgan Wallen (Down 13) Songs that climbed 10 spots or more: 69. Weren't For The Wind – Ella Langley (Up 10) [HIGHEST CLIMBER] BEST AND WORST: NEW entries: BEST – Back To Friends – Sombr WORST – Vanish Mode – Lil Durk The whole top 100: BEST – Beautiful Things – Benson Boone WORST – Somebody Loves Me – Drake/PARTYNEXTDOOR NEXT WEEK'S PREDICTIONS: NEW entries for Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, BigXthaPlug and possibly Sexxy Redd or The Marias.
April 10Apr 10 Author Looks like most of these long-runners will chart for 6 more weeks before Morgan Wallen's album bomb potentially sends them to recurrent.
