Richard Ashcroft has released his first original single since 2018 with 'Lover' today - and it's a pretty strange single choice! It's quite catchy, but really weirdly produced.

It does indeed, she's credited as a co-writer with Ashcroft.

It’s quite poppy and not what I was expecting. I’m quite liking it though!

It's growing on me...

I know the credited sample in this but part of it reminded me of something else. In the “talkin bout my lover” part it sounds a bit like the drop in The Chainsmokers ‘Closer’.

This is much more like it. Quite poppy for him but it's the best thing he's released for years, it hit me straightaway!
